| Amy's Devotional:12/31/03 This is the time where I'm supposed to give you a great motivational speech for the new year, and tell you to make the best of the year and live it to its fullest. But obviously, you hear that from every one!
The great thing about our God, well, there are too many great things about our God to name just one, but one of the amazing things about him is that he's so willing to give second, third, and fourth chances. Now that doesn't mean you don't have to try, and it's okay to just mess up whenever you want, but it does mean that you don't have to worry about getting zapped if you do something wrong.
When I look back on this year, I see a lot of mess-ups and regrets that I have. But I also see a lot of good things: New friends I made, special things I did for my parents without being asked, and getting my first real job. There are good things and bad things, and I can't really say that 2003 was a great year, or a terrible year. It's just one of those years!
Now, I want to make it a goal that next year, I will look back and say "2004 was an awesome year!!!" None of this maybe-maybe not junk.
But the hard thing about making goals is, that if you screw up, which you will, it's hard to swing back into it and still be motivated to keep trying! But that's what God wants. He wants us to keep up our faith, even when trials come, and things seem too hard to overcome this time.
So, even if you're not into the whole New Year's Resolutions thing, still try to make it a goal to go after God with all your heart, and to try even more than last year to make this year special, and one that you will remember.
