| Christian comics Anyone read Archangels: the Saga?
I have yet to pick up the Left Behind graphic novel. I didn't really connect with the books, but I thought the storyline would work as a graphic novel series.

| I haven't read either, but I'll check them out next time I'm in Barnes and Noble.
I don't think The Matrix is considered Christian, but it had some Christian themes throughout. I read through part of the Graphic Novel, and found it pretty interesting, but didn't buy it because it was a bit expensive for something that didn't seem worth it. |

| I've read most of Archangels: The Saga, but the individual issues are hard to track down and expensive when you do find them, so I haven't read the entire series. |

| I've got one of the Archangels comics. Pretty cool art I thought. I always thought angels used swords when they fought. Now I know they do. (DARIUS, GET BACK!)

| Sean's CGR comic is obviously the best Christian comic ever. I hope he saves Benj!

| He hasn't made an issue since the one where he murdered me at Wal-Mart. I guess you could say I killed it.

If I knew they had a comic when they came to my church I would have gotten one signed.

| Ugh, I found a Power Team issue at a local Half Price Books. It was fairly boring, but it got the Gospel message across, which I assume was their goal. The art was subpar and the storyline was pretty hackneyed.
I won't advocate these (I think the writing ranges from decent to poor), but if you're looking for Christian comics, check out !Hero, Anointed, and The Cardinal.
The former is a "What If?"-esque epic in which the coming of Christ is set in modern times. The idea is creative, and they do a good job of trying to establish that the world that developed without the Christ appearing in our first century is much different. Judaism is a widespread religion, the Roman Empire has morphed into a near-global world empire, etc. It's interesting, but a bit ackward in its execution. Additionally, most of the main characters are based on the Biblical characters. They never bother to explain how the Hero fulfilled all the requirements of the prophecies of lineage. Additonally, Judas is also exonerated as a fanatic trying to hurry Hero's (Christ's) purpose along. And the authors retain the false tradition of Mary Magdalene being the adulterous woman by implying she had a promiscuous background and was a prostitute. Anointed I have yet to read, but I've gathered it's another "angels-as-massive-warriors-versus-grotesque-demons" Christian comic. The Cardinal is probably best for a young audience. It chronicles the exploits of a Christian superhero, dressed like the red bird from which he takes his name.

| If (most) Christian music and Christian movies are any indication, I don't really have boatloads of faith in Christian comics. !Hero sounds like an interesting enough concept, though the name is supremely gay, and the whole "modern Christ" theme is WAY overdone, and Anointed sounds like just an excuse for the authors to make an action comic while attaching a "Christian" label to it. Archangels sounds similar. Power Team...well, we won't go there. Quote: |

But, no, it's not Christian. It borrows themes from lots of different religions, Christianity probably being the greatest influence. The first in the triology could almost (note: almost) be a Christian movie itself, in the same vein as The Chronicles of Narnia books, but by the time you get to Reloaded, the Christian themes pretty much stop dead. I don't recall Christ ever falling in love with anyone, let alone sleeping with them. I suppose it could be metaphorical for the bride of Christ--the Church--but then again, Christ never fornicated with the Church. |
