When my Godfather and I would play, he would often play the rhythm and, since I didn't (and still don't) know scales, he'd show me what my "options" were as far as notes I could play. And then we'd have a ton of fun jamming with each other. I miss it!
But I know the lead to "Lord I Lift Your Name On High" and have been playing an altered, more arpeggeo'd version of the chords (G, C, D, Em Am - all open position). I keep trying to put this down so I can play around with the lead, but still can't seem to get it when the "Record" light comes on!
Yeah, I need to learn some new songs.... |

| Just thought I'd say a quick hello. I'm still in Colorado with precious little internet access. Should be home next week.
Phil was fantastic (as usual) last Friday and I caught Fernando Ortega, Andrew Peterson, Danny Oertli and Dave Beegle all together Sunday night. Great weekend!
Thanks Tim and Jay .
Later! |

WOW WOW WOW what a show!!!
Dave Beegle is one of my all-time favorite guitarists. What is he like in person? And is Fourth Estate still in existence as a band? |

I think Fourth Estate does an occasional show, but nothing regular. It's mostly Dave and his acoustic band. He's been doing more producing of other local acts as well, including Danny Oertli. |

| I also wanted to ask about Dave Beegle's faith. I have heard him identified as being a Christian. (Of course, Rob Halford of Judas Priest once identified himself as a Christian but later elaborated that he's actually just confused.) So if Dave ever spelled it out better, I would be relieved to learn that! I used to get the Hapi Skratch newsletter just to get occasional gleaned details of what's new with Dave. Hapi Skratch has kind of that "hippy" feel about it, like they don't condemn Christianity and yet they probably wouldn't look fondly on anyone trying to be evangelical or outspoken about Christ.
And also Steph, since this is your blog and not some Colorado guitarist's do you have any prayer requests this week? |

All I have heard from the stage, from others and in person is that his faith in Christ is genuine. He has stated on several occasions that Phil has influenced his walk with Christ as much as his music. Every time I have spoken with him he has displayed nothinig less than a Christliike humility and kindness. Quote: |

| I don't know their position, but they don't seem to have given Dave any trouble. But, by the nature of his music, it is "neutral" so that could be the reason. I haven't heard other HS acts so I can't say for sure but I don't get the impression they are a Christian company. Quote:

| Well, until tomorrow night, I *am* a Colorado guitarist! Not a very good one, though!!!
My immediate prayer request is for safe travel home. My bus leaves Denver at 11:30pm Wed eve and arrives in Omaha at 11:30am on Thurs. I have heard varrying accounts of the weather, both good and bad, so I would appreciate some prayers. I'll write more when I get home.
Also, my stepdad's sister's father-in-law (stay with me here) shot himself in the town dump on Saturday. Most of the family is taking it very hard and the funeral was today (had I been home, I would've gone). Please keep Uncle Butch and his wife Cindy (stepdad's sis) in your prayers as well as the rest of the family. I haven't talked with any of them but know they are very angry. I have been thinking of them a lot lately. None of them know Christ.
Thanks!
More later, |

| I'm finally home, but now it's time for bed!
Thanks to all of you who prayed, the weather, despite the predictions, was great for traveling. My dogs were very happy to see me and I was happy to see them, my Taylor and my computer...and now I'm happy to head for my very own bed! |
