That's so sad about your rabbit!
We've lost several of our pets.
One of my rabbits rammed herself against the playpen weak spot and it snapped. (to this day, we still don't know exactly how she did it.) She escaped and by morning we fount rabbit bites out of a foxglove flower. (one of the most deadly plants for rabbits. They die within 24 hours.) My dog found her later that day. We didn't see any puncture wounds, so we know that my dog didn't kill her. I was very upset.
I lost Shannon's (one of my bunnies) entire litter due to exposure. I was away taking year end tests and she had them outside the nestbox. I still blame myself for it. (If I had been there 15 minutes earlier I probably could have saved them!)
One of Esther's (another one of my bunnies) kits died about 10 minutes after birth. Cause: unknown. That's extremely common in rabbits, and no one knows why it happens. Very sad really.
We've lost a good deal of guinea pigs too.
Jingles died right on my little sisters lap. We think she died from a genetic seizure condition. My little sister still tears up whenever Jingles is mentioned.
Rusty died from an impaction.
Gina died while we were away on vacation. Apparently she couldn't handle the heat, and she was Jingles sister and had enherited the same thing that Jingles had, but was able to live a little longer.
We lost one baby guinea pig, in Hermione's litter, and then we lost Hermione herself. It wasn't easy rearing the baby piggies, they were always hungry. We lost the runt after that.
