Princess and Prince, finches -- got left in the garage with, 'toxic fumes' and died.
Indy the monitor lizard -- scared my dad's wife and had to be, 'sold.'
Mudball the rabbit -- died of heatstroke. his brain swelled.
Melville the rabbit -- the same. my brother killed it when i went on a mission.
Elmo the cat -- no one knows. but the dogs dug him up and ate him.
Rascal the cat -- I shoved him out the door with a, 'get out you beast.' and he never came back. it was good for my mental state of mind.
Midnight the cat -- got run over by my neighbor.
Gulliver the dog -- sold.
Monterey Jack the goldfish -- i forgot to feed him for a couple weeks and the next thing i knew, he was dead.
Fuzzy the cat -- peed too much outside of the litterbox and had to go the pound.
'The Cat' with no name -- we gave it to my cousins. their house burned down with it inside. it died, obviously.

It would be pretty weird if the dog was male on the show, even though it was named "Lassie".
I always think it's kinda strange that so many kids name shelties after a collie

| I had a dog that we put inside a fence and he had on a leash and he tried to jump over the fence and hung himself. Poor doggie.

| Wow, this is a sad thread...
1: Hamster named Peanut...died of old age (he was like 6)
2: Sheltie named "Laddie" (yes it was a male)--died of old age
3: A whole lot of fish that died of various causes from neglect (did you know beta fish can live up to 6 weeks without food?!) to old age to shock from changing the water
4: A guinea "Zoe" that died from unknown causes (my roommate took him when we moved out and left her with a cousin...)
5: most recently... A shih-tzu puppy (only like 10 weeks) died of most likely a liver disorder. He was vomiting and had the runs and his intestine actually came out partially during a particularly bad episode of diarrhea...we had to put him down. We'd only had him for two weeks (And for those who care, no he wasn't a Parvo case...)
6: Current Shih-Tzu (after we called the breeder, they felt bad because whatever was wrong with him was most likely hereditary and offered us another puppy from a different litter) "Bentley" decided to nose around in a mouse trap on Christmas...he scratched his eye and now we have to put drops in it. He won't ever touch peanut butter again... |

my cat ate cornbread and went crazy and died
| the mother and grandmother of my current cats grew up eating cornbread and spaghetti . . . so wha? Quote: |
One of Esther's (another one of my bunnies) kits died about 10 minutes after birth. Cause: unknown. That's extremely common in rabbits
| guess their population doesn't suffer too much from it though
1-Snow Ball young tom cat (I think that was his name, unless I'm confused with his almost-twin brother) hit by a car, my neighbors burried him for me, with graphic descriptions of his eyeball hanging out....
2-two "oddball" fish - one was eaten by a Betta and the other jumped out of the tank on the same day, supposedly running for his life
3-Tiny, an albino Cory Catfish - went down the filter's pipe, got stuck and died, I looked for YEARS to find another one, when I did I bought 3
4 - which leads us to one of the above mentioned 3, who recently went down the filter's pipe and died (2-3 weeks ago)
5-Tiger, striped kitten about 6 weeks old, "played with" a little too roughly by the dog Speckles, broken neck
6 - my first dog, named Penny, got her her second round of shots and she died like a week later, maybe from the shots but no one knows.
7-Sugar Cube, Siamese colored tom cat, moved from the city to the country with us and was lost, presumably eaten.
8-Trixie, momma cat, died probably from old age but could've been eaten as well.
9-kitten, (can't remember it's name) was a runt and also calico colored, didn't grow right and finally died at about 3 weeks.
10-Leo, tuxido cat, young tom, went to live with my grandpa and ran away, never to be seen again.
11-various Molly fish, got some sort of "bends" where their backs bent and they died.
12-Betta fish, also go the bendy problem and died
13-black speckled Cory Catfish, got a tumor on his head, I gave him something like "the hammer of mercy"
14-"Moonlight" male Betta of my sister's, lived for forever even though we washed his tank with soap (this was 6 or so years ago) untill we put him in too hot water one day
15-the afore mentioned Leo was bitten by a snake once, he was swolen and sick for a few days but did live
16-Streak, a striped/calico female cat was stung by a large wasp when she was about 6 months old, she lived and was later sold for $10 (valued because of her color)
I'm sure there are many others...but that is quite a few.

BB: cat who hung herself. she had to be tied up and she fell off the porch. Oops.
Cookie: Dog who got run over by a car on the highway. She was my first pup. I loved her.
Oranj and Pierre: Rabbits...i dont remember how they died. but it was winter, i dont know if that's significant, but it seems to be. meh.

Rabbits can survive (they won't be too comfortable) in temperatures of up to -10* F. It's the heat that kills them, you have to look out in temperature above 80*F.
Rabbits are made to survive (unless their wounded) as long as their healthy, they can survive rapid temperature changes, up to 2 weeks without food, (that varies a little depending on age, and breed) and several days without water.
Unfortunatly a small injury is enough to kill them. Depression is enough to kill them:
We brought Esther inside when it was approaching her due date, and her hutchmate (the bunny in the cage next to her) pined so bad. After a while he wouldn't eat, he lost interest in his toys, he didn't want to hop, he wouldn't even show off like he usually does for the judge. The day we put her back in there, he went crazy, and wouldn't stop hopping for hours.
That's just they way rabbits are designed.
Your bunny probably died of old age. For small rabbits, 5 years can be old. For rabbits who get lettuce and wheat bread often, 2-4 years is old.
Yes, indeed this is a depressing thread.

| Hmm...
Fuzzy. My cat. He was my baby. 7 yrs. Got chronic kidney failure.
Lucy. My sis's demonic cat. 3 yrs. Got Chronic kidney failure.
Kiki. calf. (go figure, i live on a farm...) A rare stomach hardening disease. I'll tell what it is later...
Oreo. Pygmy goat. my mom raises them. he was a beauty. Pepper colored (which is uncommon in goats) with a white stripe. He got an infection after we castrated him. That's an awlful way to die.
Molly Polly. My horse. My only horse. She was prob. the fastest horse i've ever ridden. She was the mother of some Ketucky Derby champ. I'll look at the register and see which...she died of an anurism. I was broke. I've never owned a horse for myself again. My sis has them though, and I love them to death. Especially Tobasco. Prob. the most tolerant horse i've ever ridden. can't compare with molly though...we were soulmates.
I've got a bunch more, but I don't want to put them all down...too many to count...
Oh yeah, Tiger. My second cat. He was tortured by a neighbor hood kid with a blowgun. That was when I was little. Now, if I still lived in Kansas, I'd like to hunt that boy down...rrrrr

None of our animals (except one) have died from anything but disease. Three of my cats suffered, while one died mysteriously in the middle of the night, less than two weeks after we got her (strangely, her brother, who seemed sick at the time, is perfectly fine... other than being slightly insane )
There was that one fish, though...
We have one cat who is particularly destructive. He's a bit territorial (he once set the wall on fire because he decided to mark an electrical outlet as his own... oddly, he lives on)... one day he decided to eliminate a fish. We'd seen him bat at the water in the tank quite a bit, but never though anything of it. One night we came home from wal-mart and went to feed the fish... we were one short... we never found it... or did we? lol, yes we did... a week later, the suspect cat knocked over a nearby houseplant... and out rolled a goldfish. He'd buried the thing! He knocked it out of the tank and buried it in a houseplant!
