| New School Whatever happened to real, old school journals? I think I lost mine... on to the new school.
I've never done an online journal or "blog" before... this could get interesting. No one has ever read the thoughts I write in journals... you'll all think I'm nuts.
I can't remember the last time I wrote in a journal. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with something stupid though, let's be honest.
I'm out of school until January 16th and I don't know what to do with myself. I get so bored that I just go in to my office and work even though I definitely won't get paid for those hours. Bah.
I wish I had more to say right now... but if you can't say anything intelligent, don't say anything at all.

| I write from behind some horrible looking plastic eyeshields... haha. I got laser eye surgery this morning and it is UNBELIEVABLE! No glasses, no contacts, and I can see so well! I get the shield off tomorrow morning at 7am, so I can't really go out until then, but I can watch TV and stuff.
This has been an overwhelming week! There have been Christmas parties, reunions with old friends, lots of Christmas shopping to get finished, my engagement, and laser surgery today! Holy smokes... so much fun!
I made all the phone calls today to announce Matt and my engagement. It was all kinds of excitement! I don't really know where to go from here... we're not getting married until I graduate, so we have about a year. Right now we're just basking in the fun of being a newly engaged couple. I can't stop looking at my ring... it is so stinking beautiful! He did a great job.
School doesn't go back until the 16th of January I think, so I am just enjoying the time off while it lasts.
Well, I am supposed to sleep lots today, so I guess I'll head back to bed for a while!

| Sounds like a good week indeed! Have you seen/are you planning to see Return of the King? As long as you can deal with the fact that it is fantasy, it is the best movie. Slap that on your list and you'll have a perfect week.
Have a great day!

| Galen- I am very much looking forward to seeing Return of the King. I want to read the books sometime, but there is plenty of time for that!

| You haven't read the books? What does your user text, Houseboat Driver, mean?

| For the past three summers I have worked on a Christian houseboat camp. We take kids out for a week on a houseboat, take them waterskiing/wakeboarding in our ski boats, and swim, play, and worship. It is an incredible ministry- its called Sonshine Ministries (thats their logo in my avatar). I was a driver this past summer, and I just haven't updated it, hehe.

P.S. You know what really made me sad? Some guy gave me a negative rep because I said I think it is inappropriate to use the phrase "that's gay" ... what the heck, huh?!

| That sounds really neat, Alison! And yeah, sounds like a silly reason to negrep someone. Regarding the use of the word gay, I wish we could reclaim it from being used to mean what people use it to mean. It used to be a positive and useful descriptive term, and now its neither positive nor useful.

| It is unbelieveable that tomorrow is Christmas eve! Time flies so quick! I leave for Georgia tomorrow night at 10:30pm, so that should be a good Christmas with family we rarely get to see. What is everyone else doing for Christmas?

| Wow! New eyes and a life partner in one week! Not too shabby.
As for me, I will be right here in northeast Ohio for Christmas. Maybe boring, but unlike your Georgia one, my Christmas will be white!
So you got negrepped? I think the person should have just PM'd you if he really had a hangup over the word gay. Is he also planning to write to Hanna-Barbera Productions to protest the phrase "We'll have a gay old time" in the Flintstones song?? C'mon now!!!!
Ali, I remember you from the early days of CGR. It's okay if you don't remember me. Anyhoo, here is a question for you: During the three summers you spent at Sonshine Ministries, was there a time when you were really disappointed in someone? Either a camper or a fellow staff person? Thanks. |
