| YCV30T? Never heard of that one. Do you mean YCV40T? Anyways, tell us how it sounds when you get it.

| Actually, Nate, I think Third Day plays under the Epiphone guitar name.. but no doubt they're custom-made. It baffles me why, though, they play with the Epiphone name on the headstock, unless it's just Gibson's marketing.

| No, they're real Epiphones that they have owned since before they were big. They are modded though, with Gibby pups and better wiring/harware.

| They get a pretty good tone, which I would probably account to the amp more than the guitars, anyway.

| It's actually a mix. The guitars have been upgraded quite a bit, so they are pretty much the same as Gibbys now. (actually, I should mention that Mark - secondary guitarist - plays all PRS's now.) And yes the amps are a big part too. I'm not sure about Mark, but Brad (lead) uses Marshall stacks with a Matchless head. They also have top quality pedals to help the amps out. (I envy them! )
Heh, this thread is getting so off topic now...these posts should be moved to the Third Day forum!

| I have a 30-watt Crate, and I must absolutely recommend against Crate. There is no way I can get it to sound even halfway-decent, crunchy-wise, and I have a couple different distortion pedals. |

One of the kind with onboard dsp effects, and 3 channels, gobs of power, and you know what? it got two thumbs down! Funny thing is, I have a really small crate with those same effects sitting in my music room now, but that's another story |

| As I said early on, I have no intention of ever buying a Crate. I know that they stink when it comes to sound.

| I have a Peavey Classic 30 that I really like. I think it's a great amp for the price. However, I tried a Trayor YCV80 around the time I bought the Peavey and liked it as well. I think I actually liked the gain channel on the Traynor better. It seemed to be more versatile than the OD channel on the Classic 30. I'm sure the YCV40 sounds just as good as it's big brother. I may check one out later myself.
