Just finished it. Initial thoughts:

It was okay. It suffers from something I'm realizing is inherent to being in Superman's movies: A lack of fight scenes. I mean, how much can there be in a Superman movie? He can kick anyone's butt!

There was too much in-between, and not enough interesting dialogue. It seems that it holds up to the character of Superman (not really sure), but I wouldn't really know, as I lack a thorough knowledge of the Superman.

That's just initial, though... I'm sure, once I've thought about it more, I'll decide it was decent. I wouldn't buy it, though. Nothing particularly grabbed me. I don't think there was one character in that movie that I actually liked... Though Lex was pretty cool.

1. I did use the guitar controller. Why else do you think I was complaining?

2. You of all people should know that our controller is sucky. The flipper stummer thingie doesn't pick up some of the strums, and it sometimes decides to gyp you on a note. And the middle key is more difficult to press down. It sticks sometimes.

Really, I just prefer the Xbox controller. I have smaller hands so it's easier to hold a small controller. As a bonus I don't have to worry about strumming, but I can do vibratos if I wish. It's so much easier for me to use the Xbox controller, and I have more fun that way. Is that so wrong?

26 paychecks a year x 5.2 hours a paycheck = about 135. I work 48 hour weeks. 135 divided by 48 = 2.8. It is actually 3, which makes sense, because I get a bit more than 5.2 per pay period.

Ah, I was missing a step in that. No wonder...

[ ] You keep track of dates using a calendar
[ ] You own more than one credit card
[x] You know how to change the oil in a car
[x] You've done your own laundry
[ ] You vote in every election
[x] Can you cook for yourself
[ ] You think politics are exciting

See, Breeners? Lies. Don't bother with another of those stupid Myspace marriage surveys.

Someone needs to make one where the blanks add up to your marryable timeline (in years, not by age). That would be closer to the truth than counting the X's for the mature things you actually do.

Whooo! 5 stars and a 227 note streak on Bad Reputation! *rawkfist* Yay Guitar Hero.

It's about time I got a good streak. You have no idea how hard it is for me to get the controller to cooperate with my tiny hands and thin fingers. I cannot for the life of me seem to get the game to recognize that I'm pressing the keys about 1/10 of the time. Of course, there's the times my fingers get tangled up in my brain and I mess up an entire segment, but that's different. I have good hands for playing piano. I have awful hands for playing crazy rock guitar solos, much less pressing down keys rather than strings. Urg.

But at least I have nine "achievements" to show for already. Not bad for only starting my own account yesterday, hmm?

[/GH rant]

That is a fantastic movie. Art and I watched it when it was in theaters. You will enjoy it muchly.
I absolutely loved it (with a Lois reservation). And I liked the fact that there wasn't a Superfight, either. Superman isn't about fights as much as he is about saving people, which he got to do a lot in the film. Though with that much Kryptonite, he would be dead a few seconds after he had landed on the New Krypton asteroid.

Not saying I don't want a Luthor-created Metallo (ideally played by Malcolm McDowell, as in STAS) or Doomsday or Mongul to show up in the next one; I would love to see superhero fighting like never before. That's really the kicker with Superman and fighting: it's got to be on a level, intensity, and sheer destructiveness that has never been placed on screen. It's got to make the Super Burly Brawl from Matrix Revolutions look like kids with popguns. Superman II set the pace, Spider-Man 2 upped the ante, but with modern technology, something truly incredible can result. The cracking of a planet's crust, for example. The problem is, Superman's powers have so many different aspects (Superspeed, flight, strength, enhanced senses, heat vision, etc), that it's hard to showcase them all. Also, much depends on his power level (which fluctuates wildly, depending on what source you're looking at). I don't think Superman Returns's version of Clark would be able to move planets from their orbit, but he's clearly more powerful than the version which fought Doomsday in 1993.

@ Da Geek: though Superman doesn't generally have as good a rogues gallery as Batman or Spider-man (with the exception of Luthor), there are certainly enough out there to give us a good show.

Another thing: I think I would have appreciated a reboot Superman, as the new-to-superheroing Clark Kent is one of my favorite versions of the character, as seen in John Byrne's Man of Steel or Matt Wagner's Trinity and the recent Superman: Confidential series. I love the idea of Superman never sure about what will hurt him or not, how much he can lift, and always wondering when he'll reach his limit.

That being said, Superman Returns was pretty fantastic.
