It's more common for people to wait until they are older and perhaps a bit wiser before they get married, say around 26-34. So it stems partly from my being around a whole bunch of young singles and not feeling like there's anything wrong with it.
I'm guessing by the "in my community" you mean your friends where you live? Chris & I are both 22. so we fit in that age bracket...

I also have... hmmm... 4 friends under 20 that got married this year alone.

yea, around here, more specifically of my friends and my church...

getting married at Debbie's age is even somewhat frowned upon by her friends who are the same age. But we're all happy for her, since David seems like a nice guy.. plus, he's older, so that makes a difference. but generally....

yeah, I don't think of 23 as too young to marry... but then, it depends on the individual.
I had a friend who married at 19 and he's 5 or 6 years older. it was even worse when they first started dating 2 years earlier...
(guess I do kinda understand what you're saying, eh?)

well... there are also cultural things to take into consideration. Buying property around here is not something the average 23-year-old can do, generally. The house I live in would sell for half a million, easily, and it's not even a really nice place...

yeah, I'm worried about ever having enough money to get married, everything is so expensive these days. I would like to get married young though. In the next few years.

youch!
any idea what rent is? just out of morbid curiousity?

my grandparents just bought a small(er) house and put theirs on the market. they paid $95 000 for a small 2 bdr... and the real estate agent talked them into asking only $140 000 for their quite big house.

well, my dad got it back in the '70's when prices were much better... so we're only paying something like $600/month. And the house will be paid off next year.

Whereas our neighbors who just bought the house on the corner a year or 2 ago for slightly over half a mil and worked on it are trying to sell it off for upwards of $600,000....

Crazy. That's San Francisco for ya.

ok, bedtime! nitey nite!

crazy friscans. My friend goes to SF state and rented a little room in a house. It overlooked the ocean (going down the hill towards the house) and was very very cool. I was surprised when the owner said the house is worth $1 million. It was smaller than a shack. 2 of us could not go down a hallway at the same time.

I believe ya. Is the place close to State or just somewhere on the west side of town? The places by SF State cost more simply because they are State dorms and the outlying area... but even in the Sunset, places are crazy-priced.

Gavin's banneration.

I shall tell the story for those who don't yet know...

Yesterday, Gavin was banned from CGR. Details are not being given out by the admins/supermods, so we don't know everything.. but i suspect this post has something to do with it.

Here is the initial thread about it... no one believed it was true at first.. and here is the thread on it in the mod forum (so if you're not a mod you can't view that, sorry!).. and then lastly, Aaron posted this notice in CPF.

RIP Lightknight... CGR will miss Gavvvy.

I'm going to go cry in a corner now.

Yeah, that explains it. Sad but true, SFSU dorms are extremely pricey. But regular SF housing can be, too.

No kidding. Poor Gavvy and Becky... no more PM's!! Hopefully they can go to another site and set it up like they had it here...
