The voice at the end is NOT Sofia's! It does sound like her, but if you would watch the credits, that voice is credited to a different actress. So his whole relationship with Sofia was about where the dream started, just after he met her for the first time.
Although I will point out that if you watch the directors comments on the ending, they left it intentionally vague, so viewer could "come to their own conclusions." Makes for a wishy-washy movie.
