Pickups

I'm looking at replacing some pickups for a fat strat, so I'll need 1 humbucker and 2 single coils. I've kinda decided on a lace sensor (blue) for the neck position, I'm trying to get a real warm sound for rythem playing. I've been looking at a Fender accs. left-handed singlecoil for the middle, and was wondering if anyone has put a lefty in a righty guitar. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, might give a cool sound and for 22 dollars (on clearance) its cheap, so worth a shot. I also need some suggestions for a humbucker, (going for a Trey Anastasio, really hot sound, mostly for playing classic rock sounding stuff, NOT metal).

But I really thought we could use a thread to sound off on our favorite pickups.

So I'll go watch a movie and check back to see what you guys think.

if you're looking for hot, my suggestion would be to ditch the lace sensors, and go for an EMG setup all the way around.

as far as passive goes...Seymour Duncan has pickups with good output.

I second Seymour Duncan. For a hot humbucker check out the JB or one of the Customs (Custom, Custom Custom, Custom 5). For a more classic PAF sound, check out a Pearly Gates or '59.

As for a lefty single coil in a righty guitar, Hendrix basically had right-handed pickups in a lefty guitar (right-handed guitar strung lefty), and it worked for him. Actually, I believe Seymour Duncan sells reverse staggered single coils which will give you the same effect.
