| Speaking of PRS....check THIS auction on ebay out! Take a look at this! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=33045 It is their top of the line PRS Dragon guitar! BUT this is a PROTOTYPE! PRS does not SELL their prototype so how did this one get out?? I am kinda curious about that! If I had one built for me, though, I would want an ANGEL on the front! (Yes I know I am dreaming) |

| It's a prototype for the 2002 model. And they are extremely cool, I saw one in person a few months back.

| It says it is also a great playing instrument, but who would actually think of playing it rather than locking it up in a glass case? |

| I don't like guitars without position markers, I guess I need 'em so I can find the right fret. Otherwise I'd buy it... |

Tell You what Major Tom....why don't you just buy it and give it to me?? That way, you wouldn't be worried about those position markers being absent! (HE! HE!) |

Now WHY would people buy an instrument like that, only to be locked up in a glass case!?? To me that is sad and unnesesary! I think an instrument was meant to be PLAYED...not sit on a shelf and called ART! I also belive that if you ask PRS himself, that he would say that he meant his creations to be played, no matter HOW beautiful he made them! If I was going to put something on a shelf that was expensive, I would get a painting from Van Gough! At least then the painting would be fufilling it's purpose! (what else CAN you do with a painting besides hang it up?) But an instrument was built to be played for everyone to hear! You can't HEAR what a guitar sounds like if you put it away in a glass case! Sure it would be protected, but like I said before, I don't think ANY instrument maker meant for their creations to just sit around in glass cases for people to gawk at! They are instruments for crying out loud.... not paintings or sculptures! They were meant to be HEARD not just admired for their beauty! Take a look at all of the classical violinists that use stradivarious violins made in the 1800s! Even though those instruments are priceless....because nobody knows HOW stradivarious made his violins or what wood he used.....people STILL PLAY THEM! They play them at classical concerts and in practice! Just because a instrument is old...rare... or beautiful is no reason to lock it up in a glass case! This guitar is no exception to that rule! It is meant to be played....not just admired! |

Whoever bought it is bragging, and you fell for it. It happens not so often, but enough. You'll see something like this.. exorhbantant price, amazing unique guitar. They never get bought.. because most people that would seriously buy it, know that these are just bragging rights. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=33041
Heh.

Well.... they may be bragging but they have to sell it if someone meets their price or ebay will jerk their membership! Also, I noticed that that 1953 gretch with amp you have a link to, is actually being HELD by someone in one of the pictures...NOT in a glass case! Gee mabye this guy knows that it is an instrument and not a piece of art!?? Also I would like to add that I did not "fall' for anything! How can you fall for something that you are only midly curious about?? I have not put any bids in on it because I have already obtained a PRS soapbar Mcarty! I just thought it was a neat guitar....that's all!!

It is meant to be played....not just admired! | What I meant is that the people who are going tho bid on and buy that thing aren't going to play it. Those people are not looking for the sound of their guitar, they're out for bragging rights. If someone really wanted to play it, would they get the one-of-a-kind prototype model, or would they just get the regular model which is probably thousands less, and plays exactly the same. Maybe it's wrong to lock it up in a glass case, but that's what people do. I once saw a $500 PRS signed by Mark Tremonti on eBay that came with it's own glass case. Now why wouldn't people think the same about a PRS Dragon 2002 prototype? |
