Looking for a Cheap (but quality) Keyboard

I'm looking for a pretty good quality keyboard for cheap and maybe a keyboard amp too. Does anyone know of a low cost keyboard that can put out good-sounding Hammond organ/Leslie (its all about the B3! ) sounds, as well as relatively nice piano, ep, strings, and can layer the patches? I'm looking to use it for a band, practice, or small venues. The most important sounds would be the piano and organ, as that's what I use the most. Also, some kind of a rotary speaker simulator would be helpful, but if its part of the patch, that would work too. Thanks!

Galen

How cheap is "cheap" to you?

Inexpensive: under $1000

Cheap: under $500

I may be able to go into the "Inexpensive" range, depending on how long I have to raise money. Maybe, perhaps, if I actually start getting paid, I can even get something over $1K. Really, what I would like is something that I won't regret "wasting money" on later when I have more money.

you can get some awesome-sounding Roland keyboards for less than $1000
i have an RS-9 (cost: $1,100 2 years ago) and it has some pretty god piano sounds and i love the organ sounds! (as far as amp. i use my small bass amp. for practicing)

I was just going to reccomend the same and then I saw your post. Also you might want to look into Casio or Yamaha.

I'm in the same boat - looking for a relatively inexpensive but quality keyboard/synth. Does anybody know anything about Korg 01/W, N364, N5ex or I3? They seem to be higher end boards, but since they are older, prices are down there with lesser new boards. Is a "new, more modern" keyboard really that different from those mentioned above?

i would say no, not really. i haven't played the exact Korg models you mentioned above, but i have played some older high-end Korg's and they were a better play than my newer Roland. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's outdated.
