does anyone have any suggestions for helping me learn to play and sing at the same time? i've been taking lessons for a few months and i want to learn how to sing at the same time as playing, but i tried some today and it's terribly difficult for me, so anyone got any suggestions?

practice............ that's all that I can say!! Also, try playing REALLY simple stuff at first....... maybe just strum (or bang it out.... if you're playing piano/keyboard, like me) the chord once, as you sing the line, when you get to the next chord... strum it as you sing whatever goes there. Then, gradually build up to harder stuff. But most of all.... practice..... no matter how bad it sounds right now.... eventually you WILL get better. You just have to work at it.

wow..i've just started hearin a lot of ppl sayin its hard to sing and play at the same time...kinda wierd. but ya practice is the first thing. practice more on the playin then the tryin to sing w/ the song. soon u'll get to a point were ur able to play and not think about what ur playin..that leaves ur mind open to sing or ,if playin w/ a band, listen to them.
