| techno Hi, LoL. I play piano/keyboard, but how do all those artists make techno? Yeah, I should know this already, but I don't because I never found someone who really knows. Please respond quickly. Thank you.

| Get a good synth and a good drum machine... or the computer program ACID. It seems to be all about simple leads over good drum beats and bass lines. Anyway, I'm sending this off to the keyboard/piano forum becuase... it seems more applicable than effects.

| Yeah ACID would be an excellent program for that. Techno is essentially lines of music repeated, then changed slightly and repeated, then changed and on and on. If you are using a keyboard to do it record one part (drums most likely) then another part over that (bass) then any random licks you want with those.

| Like learning any other musical style, if you really want to know the ins and outs of techno, completly emerse yourself in it. Listen, read, etc. Learn about the different styles, gear, etc.
Acid is a great program, but in order to really create something, you'll still need some basic knowledge of the style. It may seem simple, but to build a track in a style that, for the most part, must be rhythmically static is a difficult task...finding ways to add stress and make things lay back without loosing the beat is not always as easy as it seems.
What kind of electronic music do you like to listen to (and possibly want to emulate)?
