| guitar magazines has anyone else gone to a book store looking for a guitar magazine and wished there was something else on the stand?
I don't listen to much secular music and don't really like the guitar magazines that are out there.
Does some one know of a magazine just about guitars. or a christian based music/guitar mag?

| I don't know. I also don't know that there is a guitar forum where this would be better suited. Moved.

| I can't stand a lot of Christian media.. and if the Christian market did support a guitar mag, I don't reckon it'd be too impressive or worthwhile. I hear you though, many guitar/music magazines are really nothing more than MTV and Blink 182 on paper. I think there are many better opinions produced about guitars here

| There is a new magazine coming out with gear reviews, artist interviews, and columns by people such as Lincoln Brewster, Paul Baloche, etc. You can check it out here
For plain music stuff check out CCM Magazine (My all time favorite magazine!) They have a page of gear reviews every month, but they are rarely guitars. But they have lots of great stuff Check it out here |

| I just started getting CCM Mag. 'Tis not bad, but there's not much about guitars in it. For that matter, there's STILL not much about bands who use guitars even, lol. But 'tis an alright mag.
That worship magazine looks pretty interesting too. I might have to check that out myself.
Oh, and of course, Musician's Friend's catalog has some gear reviews every edition, so.. yeah. |

However, they're useful if you're reading for features you like and all.. but just a word of warning that those reviews are designed to spark customer interest, which undoubtedly hides its undesirable characteristics.

But I use that to see features like you say. Guess I should have said that. But yeah, it's true, they really don't tell what's WRONG with a product. I figured that out when they reviewed the Behringer Guitar Pack as soon as it went to $99. |

| The only guitar mag that I really liked was Guitar Shop, and it's not printed any more . Guitar Player still has some decent articles and reviews, but the others (Guitar World, Guitar One, etc.) just arn't very good (most of the time, there have been a few issues with some good stuff in them).

| Hey guys!!! Got news for you! I found the answer!
I just discovered the Ultimate Christian Music Magazine!!!!!!
Totally!
There are tons of reviews on different gear, not from reviewers who are writing a favorable review of one of their biggest advertiser's new product, but writing a real-world review of a product they went out and bought, and demo'd for more than 5 minutes!!
There's tons of shop talk from very knowledgeable folks and experts about how to get the best bang for your buck and everything.
There's thorough analyses of Music Theory, Guitar Mechanics, Song-Writing, the Music Biz and just about every other subject imaginable.
Also, there's also a huge amount of Tabs!! By your favorite artists no less, and not the flavor of the month.
Plus, tons of cool articles about subjects that I hear people ask about on here all the time!
That to me makes for the best Christian Music Mag out there!
It's really cool! I'll see if I can find a link for it!

| I read Guitar One, Guitar World, and Guitar Player. I like the first two because of the tabs that give me riff ideas. I don't listen to much secular radio so when I want to know how the riff really sounds I go to Amazon.com and check for sound bites.
I like to read about gear in the mags but I really don't take what they say as truth because why bite the hand that feeds you, and if a company sends you a model to try, if no other that particular one will be made perfect.
As for the mags I read, I've wrote the editors and told them they're missing a great market and refer bands and cd's for them to check out. I also write them to let them know how I feel about issues on how bands exploit and entice people with gimmicks bad in nature. Then I break down the mag in sections and let them know how I feel about the articles and the people who write them.
My son tell's me I'm nuts because a secular mag isn't going to listen. I say that's fine but they're going to have to not listen every month. You can make a difference. I look at how much time I spend here each day or any other guitar/music site. I thought, I can take 5 minutes after reading a mag, type up my review and send it in.
Like this month I going to let them know about Pillar and Skillet's new cd.
Email's great. |

| THE CHRISTIAN GUITAR RESOURCE!!! THIS IS YOUR CHRISTIAN MUSIC MAGAZINE!!!!
I'm totally serious!
Not only are there tons of reviews on different gear, not from reviewers who are writing a favorable review of one of their biggest advertiser's new product, but real-world review of a product written by people who went out and bought the product for their own use (read: bigger personal investment), and demo'd for more than 5 minutes!! . . .
Not only are there tons of shop talk from very knowledgeable folks and experts about how to get the best bang for your buck and everything. . .
Not only are there thorough analyses of Music Theory, Guitar Mechanics, Song-Writing, the Music Biz and just about every other subject imaginable. . .
Not only are there a huge amount of Tabs!! By your favorite artists no less, and not the flavor of the month. . . .
And, tons of cool articles about subjects that I hear people ask about on here all the time! . . .
But the best part is is that you get this in real time, and not have to wait a whole month to get a magazine which is half print ads and hopefully might have something of value or interest.
That to me makes the CGR the best Christian Music Mag out there! Show me one Guitar Mag, Christian or Secular, that even comes close!!!
CGR is the Ultimate EZINE!!!

| Very cute! I could agree with you more but I never really thought about it like that..! How true it is, but I think the request was looking for something a tad more tangable.. but like I said I totally agree with you!!

| HM magazine is a GREAT music magazine. It doesn't have any gear reviews in it though. It'd be neat to see a "clean" guiar magazine too. |
