there was a question asked "is a maj9 the same as a maj2" and i was wondering the same. i'm not the most correct in my theory, so it may just be my ignorance, and that's not even a good question to ask. but i was wondering!

my favorite chord as of right now is some passive A chord (if you know what it's named, tell me! ) 5x665x

Looks like C#m/A, which would actually be easier to play X0665x.

Not sure how it would sound tho'

It's an Amaj7. I play x06650 as my preferred voicing for that.

It's just three D notes. It sounds so warm and evocative.

Drop your low E to a D and you're set for D madness!
A FORM? BB222B? I think I'm missing something.

Still, it looks like a really cool chord.

the 5x665x is the common voicing because it is transferrable across the neck. It's my favorite maj7 voicing, along with (as an example) x3545x for Cmaj7, another one you can transport. I often leave out the 5th, which gives you x3x45x. Excellent.

hmm ok... i was wondering because that was part of a C#m chord before the bass note was added in. minus the barre of course...

that would technically only be 2 cause the 5 and 0 are the same note. only the 7 is octaved. least i think that would be considered 2 notes...

I'd say F#m
Thrown in some songs for a turnaround makes it sounds even better.

Just a beautiful simple chord

For heavy stuff stuff on 6tring in standard tuning it's got to be an open G with the addition of the b string at the third fret!!

But give me half chance to frop the E to D and the coolest is the open D--- major or minor---

For clean tones I like a standard tuning with an open cadd9

Now on my seven string... it's another story all together!! B minor all the way (but you know the regular ole open D sounds pretty good-- especially when you add the top strings with your thumb -- giving it that big ole D sound again!!!)

These recordings are live, and taken straight from the board.. so they are kinda rough... but I think you'll be able to get the picture.
I'd really appreciate any feedback you could give us!!!

Yeah yeah common musical theory. Three notes in that I'm letting each be it's own man.

A form in viewing A as:

002220

When you move it around for the power chords and barre chords I employ for ska it's the same form.

Play this E power chord:
x799xx

Now move it down the neck. When you can't-s go no further, you're playing an A.
