A New Band

Hello. Two Christian friends and I started a band and have finally got moving by performing in a talent show and having about 13 songs written. However, we desparately need advice on anything from anybody in a band, about order of practices and other tips, and how to make sure God is the focus. We just need help, like any beginner. Can you help? Thanx.

i don't think so....

my advice would be pray. thats always a good place to start
beyond that, make your lives glorifying to God, and your band will follow suit. if you just put on the Jesus face for rehersals, then you're just a poser band and no one wants to be that. Be real, live for God all the time, not just when you're with your band.

Where is/was "here"??? Is anybody still upset with the placement of this thread? I'd be happy to move it. I think it fits just fine HERE in the WORSHIP LEADING forum.

In His love,
Nate

If they aren't leading worship, which it doesn't seem like they are, then it doesn't make much sense to have it here. Not that it really matters to me.

GuitarReject, it might help if you had more specific things you'd like information on. Every band has a different dynamic. Different people work together differently. Some bands are very "work" oriented. Its not that they don't have fun, but you don't screw around at practice. Other bands treat practice as hang out time. All those things effect order of practice....of course I don't really know what "order of practice" is.

As for keeping the focus on God, georgeo pretty much answered your question. A God centered life is the only way to keep the focus on God. It might be a good idea to study scripture together. Not like an extensive study, but like study a passage between practices. Then at the beginning of each practice discuss it. I've been meaning and trying to do this with the praise and worship band I lead. I, however, have not done a good job of this.

Well, I put it here because I saw other bands posting stuff here. Do we have a forum for independent bands? Because when they come to the advice forum asking for advice on their band, it doesn't seem to fit there.
