that's a good question.
But if you go by the earlier mentioned dictionary definition of suicide as "The act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself", then this seems to be different from "knowingly acting to cause your own death".
Perhaps either definition could be argued for, but I certainly agree with the
intent-focus.
So my answer would be: No, i don't think it is suicide for a cop to be overcome by pacifism - even if it results in his own death - so long as he did not INTEND to die.
If death is an unwelcome consequence, rather than a welcome one, then i don't really think you can call it "suicide" eh.
