The Decemberists

I might have spelled the band's name wrong....in any case, has anyone else heard of them? They have a nice, eclectic sound. Very cool. Unfortunately, I haven't heard too much by them. Any recommendations of songs to check out?

I am in the same boat with you...I've been hearing so much about them, but really haven't heard much of their music. They are on Kill Rock Stars, so they must be pretty good.

I'm surprised people haven't brought this band up since 2003. I haven't heard a ton from this band, but what I have heard, I've really liked. Anybody know anything else or any more about these guys? I like them. They're good listening.

I've grown very tired of their comparisons to Neutral Milk Hotel. I listened to their newest EP, it's name slips my mind at the moment, and I enjoyed it a bit.

What comparisons have you heard between them? I've listened to both and I don't think they sound similar.

Look anywhere online and they always have comparisons. I never got the connection either, but someone does I guess.

Heya,

I have Her Majest by them, the album that is. It sounds a little like Irish/British-folk somewhat. I like it, though it's not quite my style. Anyone know of their other albums are similar in style?

A friend of mine adores The Decemberists and has all their albums. I got to listen to some more of their music when I hung out with him yesterday. Truly fantastic.

There are three very good songs of theirs on purevolume. Bandit Queen is really really good. I really want to buy their cd's. They are fun.

I really like them a lot, and no, I don't see the connection to Neutral Milk Hotel either, haha.

Picaresque is one of the best albums of the year. Other stuff is good too. I think the singer sounds like the guy from Neutral Milk Hotel which is why they get all the comparisons.
