| Message on a BBoard - guitarfan01's journal Well, after promising this thing for six months, I decided to get on my butt and do it. This is the long-but-not-so-eagerly-awaited journal of Galen, who is a 19 year old, unemployed, music-loving, guitar-and-keyboard-playing, book-reading, song-writing, long-haired Jesus Freak wannabe (or tryintabe) living with his parents near San Angelo, Texas. He has a single brother of age 14, a single sister of age 9, two parents of age 49 and age CLASSIFIED. The malady known as ADHD unfortunately affects both Galen and his brother, Curran, and this often drives his sister, Leah, crazy.
Now that you know the basic situation, here's today's news:

And that was todays news.
And now for some on-topic randomness:
Over the past few months, God has been showing me how important the Bible and a good study "quiet" time are (yes, its taken me several months to get it through my thick head), so I started a daily morning study time Monday. And then missed it on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (but I got up on time today!). Perhaps I wrote it down wrong in my book - not daily, but every other day.
On Thursdays, I run the sound board at a weekly praise service for the collegiate age Christians in the area, and both this past week and the week previous, I got to have a blues jam with our drummer, guitarist, and bassist after the official service was over but before anyone left. I played the keyboard (piano) rock-style and had much fun. Our normal keyboardist doesn't play rock-style keyboard, but she plays classical keyboard much better than I do. Next week, I am going to play and sing one of my own songs in front of whoever is there. I decided not to announce it ahead of time just in case someone would decide not to come because of that.
Prayer requests: If anyone reads this, please pray for my piano teacher's daughter, Jana; she is very sick with pneumonia and the flu, she's very anemic and is vomiting everything she tries to eat (not on purpose, she was very thin already, and no need to lose weight and knew it.)
I would also appreciate prayers about myself looking for a job, that I would find the one that God has for me at the moment (and/or that it would find me). Most of all I need to be cooperative with what God is trying to do with me and I need to keep my promises and commitments better, and I need His love and strength to do this, thanks.
The End of the Beginning.

| [John Cleese] Well look at this, people to entertain. [/John Cleese]
Ohmygoodness, I just had Monty Python and the Holy Grail flashbacks. *Hears, as from a distance, a voice shouting "Run Away! Run Away!"*
On to the news for today (this is different than yesterday's news).
[anchor] Welcome to the Infrequent Galen News. I'm Galen, and so is he. *points to fellow anchor* Our top story today is how Galen missed going to church this morning. Our correspondent, Galen, is on the scene. Galen?[/anchor]
Ok, I'm getting tired of this. No more of this goofy news for today. What happened was that last night, Dad and I were watching tv, and we ended having a marathon of 3 movies and two halves. We started with Jaws, on AMC, which was cool, but not scary when you start watching at the middle. Then we moved over to TNT for The Net, starring Sandra Bullock, which was pretty good as well. Next, Disclosure, starring Michael Douglas (from a Michael Crichton book), which was pretty good as well (like most of the stuff based on Crichton books). Following that, it was time to journey into the nightmarish world of The Game, also starring Michael Douglas, and that was so freakishly awesome cool. Then, we watched about an hour of Point of No Return with Bridget (sp?) Fonda, and left the VCR to watch the rest of it for us while we went to bed at the wonderful time of 3:30 AM. I didn't wake up until 10:30, and therefore missed church (again ) Tonight, however, I will be going to a service in about an hour, so I am going to go shower now. Goodbye.

I continually miss the start of church. You're not alone.
Hope you enjoy the service.

| Well, I came
Questions:
How long have you played keys?
Why did you start to play?
Do you play keys or guitar better?
How often do you get on CGR?
What are your hobbies?
That's all I can think of for now |

Hope you enjoy the service. | Yeah, I did, thanks. And the one that I went to last night (STAND). I wrote the music to a new song there (well started, I finished this morning). Now all I need are honest, thoughtful, and inspired lyrics, so I can play it Thursday at Intermission. Hmm, maybe not. Quote: |

| I always loved music, and Dad said piano was the thing to start on. I think he was right. Quote: |
Do you play keys or guitar better?
| Keyboards, definately, but I can hold my own on guitar usually (especially rhythm or fingerstyle), and I get by on bass. Quote: |
How often do you get on CGR?
| Well, it used to be everyday, but then I started spending time on other forums, especially the 3drealms/Max Payne boards. Now its pretty much back to every day. Playing, writing, and listening to music; CGR; writing stories and designing levels for the Max Payne 2 mod I hope to do; reading; watching tv (too much of this makes me like this -> )
More data and news will be forthcoming once something happens.

| Well, it was weird for me at first too, but after finishing the second game, the first one looks weird to me. The ragdoll deaths and physics environment interactions are some of the coolest effects I've ever seen in a game, and coupled with the new revisions to bullet-time (called BT2.0) are unbelievably awesome. The in-game cinematics, AI, and graphics are all a vast improvement over the first game. It's also a lot more fun than the first game (the most fun 14 hours I've ever had). The only dark spot (and it could be a big one, depending) is the language that Max's enemies use: it is a lot darker and more adult than the first game. It deserves the M rating, and yet my little brother, who is fourteen, plays it (and loves it), and is a much better gamer than myself (I can admit it, but it hurts ). Okay, enough MP2 stuff.
On to today's happenings:
Well, I ended up not going into town (I live about 20 miles outside of the nearest city), so I'll have to get the Matrix Revolutions tickets tomorrow. But that's okay. I am also going to turn in a couple of applications for jobs tomorrow, and find some more. Also, tomorrow is Christian Campus Fellowship at my (former) high school, and since I really don't have anything better to do, I usually go to that every Wednesday @11:00 AM, then on to the jobsearch.
God Bless All Here.

| Well, the only major thing happening is that Sleeping Awake by P.O.D. has apparently been permanently imprinted on my brain's radio implant. I like the song, but sometimes enough is enough. Nothing else major going on though, thanks for asking!
Galen
PS. I had this awesome multicolored ASCII drawing going, then I accidentally closed the page and decided it wasn't worth the stress. |

| I play acoustic more, I have a Martin D-1 and a Yamaha FG-75 (bad action, good tone - kind of a slide guitar ). On the electric side, I have a beautiful Epiphone Les Paul Standard in wine red with bookmatched flametop. I don't have pics of the acoustics, but I have a few of the electric.
