Relient K and their weird obbsessions...

So, from what I have seen/heard of relient K, they really like certain objects... most everyone knows of their huge obsession with Skittles and Combos... then i noticed this whole trend where M@ T. writes a whole lot of songs about sweaters..... and their tour journal from the old site has tons of references to robots... i think they are crazy, but a WAY cool crazy! Their new CD is awesome! any other weird obbsessions you guys/gals have noticed?

Sweaters definitely!!!! I mentioned that on another thread.. he's written two songs about/mentioning airplanes too. They do have the skittles and combos obsession, but they have to be regretting letting fans know that! You know how many packages of skittles and combos they get???? It's insane!! lol I love Relient K!!

The Newsboys are kinda obsessed with cereal. You know the song about Breakfast, well I have been told that at their concerts they throw out Capn Crunch just like Relient K throws out Skittles.

wa-hoo go rK! yay for skittles! anyways...yes, they are a bit odd...the last concert i was at, matt t. was wearing a sweater!!! haha and oh yeah, they definitely have a fondness for old tv shows, movies and books, as you can tell just by looking at the song names... ok, so has anyone else noticed the recourring theme of this girl vanessa? i know she's mentioned in at least 2 of their songs, "17 magazine" and "what have you been doing lately?" am i totally out of the loop that i don't know who she is, or did they just make her up? it's killin' me!

The girl they mention in 17 Mag is Jessica, as in Jessica Thiessen (Matt's sister). She posts frequently as 'Jessica' on http://go.to/relientk

remembered another common theme, tho...they've written a couple of songs about cars (heck they named their band after a car, i'm not nuts the band is named after a car, right? i can't remember whose car tho, it's slipped my mind) but yeah, relient K rules!!!

Yup - the band is named after a car. Matter of fact, not one, but both Matts owned a Relient K when the band first started!

I think Relient K and other bands' weird obsessions or choice of clothes, any unusual stuff, is cool...just in a different way.

Speaking of K cars.... My dream car (as I slowly approach my sweet 16 in a few months) is a Reliant K. I frequently do searches for K cars on ebay... I saw this awesome white one for $300, and best of all it was right outside Ohio in PA so I could easily pick it up. My parents didnt go for it because it was a while back and they didn't want a car sitting around for 5 months. I would paint it that orange color on the new album. Then I would get a custom window sticker banner that says "relient K" across the back window. I would add a few relient K stickers to the back. For finishing touches, I would buy "K Car" for my plates, or something rK related. Another thing I was thinking is a custom paint job scripted on the sides that says "relient K" and maybe a painting of Lion-O or something on the hood. That might look to junky, though.
