Just a heads up:

If you are playing with a basist, you don't have to worry about any of that stuff. On an X/Y chord you play the X and the basist plays the Y, lot less pressure on you if ya get a basist.

Mr. McB,

The "leave it to the bass player" philosophy works when you're playing certain styles, and some bands do it that way, but you'll never hear them mentioned for their musicianship. X/Y chords are meant to be read by both the guitarist and the bassist, if both are supposed to be playing at that point in the music. Again, to not do it that way is sometimes acceptable, but if you like things to sound "crisp," both players should be contributing to proper voicing.

Oh, I'd heard that from a few people so I shared it. Luckily though I have yet to play with a band (only just now getting the opportunity) so I've been learning all those chords anyways.
