In that case, I haven't the slightest idea in the world. I had an older Sony Vaio a while ago, and I upgraded the video card in that one, but my case had zero airflow, so my card started acting really strange for weeks before it ultimately fried. I'd definitely recommend you try some other support forums.

I reinstalled it, and the video's better. By no means perfect, but I can live with it how it is. At least I have cross-hairs now and not a pink square.

It still loads ridiculously slow and it's already crashed on me once and I had just barely had a gun for 5 minutes. I'm sorry I bought the game on eBay. If I had bought it from a store I'd take it back tomorrow. I'm over all unimpressed with it. It gets a thumbs down from me.

I had lots of installation problems too but I don't think that reflects upon the content of the game.

I agree, the content's good, but I played it again today and in 20 minutes, the game crashed 3 times. This game needs some serious updating to fix these problems. Other than that, I really like it.

Holy crap, dude. It was probably another improper installation...I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling it again. You definitely should have just bought it and downloaded it on Steam. Not a single issue with installing or playing here.

I don't think so. If you complain to Valve's tech support and give them your CD key or something as proof, they might let you.

I got impatient and sick of waiting for this stupid store to ship my video card, so I started playing it yesterday. I discovered that I can actually run it at 1024x768 with medium settings, even with my crappy Radeon 9000. The only downfalls are that I have to play in DirectX 8.1, and I have to use medium textures because of the VRAM limitation on my card (64MB). It must be really CPU dependant...moreso than I thought.

Anyways...holy CRAP it is intense. When I'm not rubbing my chin and thinking, "Hmmm, where to go next and how to get there...." I'm going, "Oh crap, oh crap, shoot, shoot...crap crap reload reload.... OHHH CRAP SHOOTSHOOTSHOOT!" This is definitely one of the best games I've ever played.

Something I find funny-this is the review pie chart of HL2 from GameSpot:

Anywho...I want this game so bad. But I have such a crappy computer. I envy all of you who have it.

If it was downloaded by steam do you still get the single player?

Oh! I thought steam was multiplayer only. I stand corrected.

Heya,

I played 10 hours of it straight, when I got it (the day it came out). My computer's motherboard decided to die on me THE DAY AFTER. I need to get back to playing it again.. WoW has been sucking up all of my gaming time

steam sucks with dial up. it takes so long.
ive got a 56k modem but it still takes ages to download the updates. eg, 1000+ mins to update counter strike source!
half life 2 is the best game ive ever played in my life!
