ForeFront Records’ band, TAIT, prepares to powerfully connect, both musically and lyrically, with its rapidly expanding fan base through the release of its highly anticipated sophomore album, Lose This Life, Nov. 4.
Co-produced by lead singer, Michael Tait, and industry veteran, Mark Heimermann (dc talk, Garth Brooks, tobyMac, Rebecca St. James), Lose This Life marks the first record with which Michael has been this significantly involved. A follow up to its applauded, hit-filled 2001 debut, Empty, TAIT’s upcoming album features more power, sincerity and maturity as the artistry and camaraderie grows for members Michael, bassist Lonnie Chapin, drummer Chad Chapin and guitarist Justin York.
“The chemistry of this band has become something like a freight train over the last year,” says Lonnie Chapin. “We feel like we’re breaking through to the next level musically and we’re gaining hardcore fans who really get what we’re doing as a band. This new record will be an explosion of who we are.”
Michael continues, “There’s a believable passion that courses through Lose This Life. Even the slow songs have this tremendous energy. This project exudes life and is really a statement from the heart. We’re intense about saying things that matter. The older I get the more I realize how short my time on earth is. As a band, we don’t feel like we have time to sit back and tickle people’s ears.”
Along with 10 original cuts and a cover of Eddy Grant’s 1982 hit, “Electric Avenue,” the project will feature a bonus track, “The Christmas Song,” reminiscent of Nat King Cole’s musical style. Produced by Brown Bannister (Steven Curtis Chapman, Avalon, Warren Barfield), the holiday single was recorded live to 2-track format with players from the London Symphony Orchastra and the London Philharmonic. Lose This Life will be enhanced with special features, including a tool to unlock behind-the-scene “webisodes” available at the redesigned
www.TAITband.com, launching Oct. 13.
To support the album at radio and following the success of Empty’s No. 1 CHR hit, “All You Got,” the title cut from Lose This Life was recently released to AC/CHR. As the single continues to increase spins each week, the song’s video releases to television mid October. The video features scenes from the streets, riverwalks and trainyards of Liverpool and Winchester, England, and further displays live performance footage from this summer’s Luis Palau Crusade in the U.K.
TAIT is currently premiering songs live from Lose This Life to thousands of fans as it headlines the SHOUTfest tour which began Sept. 11 in Austin, TX and runs through late Oct. Furthermore, the band will continue to traverse the nation beginning Nov. 1 as Michael plays the lead character in the upcoming tour, !Hero The Rock Opera.
With multiple Platinum-selling albums, several Dove and GRAMMY Awards, 15 No. 1 singles, appearances on The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, E!, CNN Showbiz Today, Entertainment Tonight and countless other accolades as one-third of dc talk, Michael Tait now leads the band named in honor of his late father. Instantly hitting the spotlight in 2001, TAIT members collectively agree that the band will “stick around as long as we can continue to connect and deliver. Music is a universal language and the best way to get to a young person’s heart is through their headphones—that’s exactly what TAIT wants to do.”
