| Visiting an Episcopal church... Just wanted to let you all know that I'm taking a stab at Episcopacy - Christ the King Episcopal Church, Beaver Falls, PA. Diocese of Pittsburgh, AAC. None of the Presbyterian churches around here have weekly communion, and very few are liturgical at all. We even have dispensationalist Presbyterian churches up here. So anyway, I'm heading of to Episcopal church at 9:30 Sunday. I have this feeling that it will be vaguely like "Mr. Bean Goes to Church," with me lacking even the slightest idea when to sit, when to stand, and when to kneel. |

| That's good to hear. I hope you find the experience worshipful and meaningful. I don't know anything about the PA diocese, though, so it's possible that your experience there will be quite different than it would in one of the southern provinces. Let us know how it turns out!

| I really enjoyed the service, but I don't think I'll be attending regularly. The assistant bishop was there for confirmation, so they were using the BCP, but apparently that's fairly uncommon. I think I'll be checking out Christ Episcopal in New Brighton this Sunday. |

| I went to Trinity Episcopal Church Sunday, and I think we'll be returning next week, which will mark my first return visit to a church since I've been here. The only thing I didn't like about the service was this horrendous "Welcome to the Family" song sung at the baptism, but Our God, Our Help In Ages Past and The Church's One Foundation more than make up for that. |

There are things I like about Trinity... and other things I don't like... such as "welcome to the family," lol. That cracked me up that you mentioned that, 'cause I distinctly remember it as having been rather nauseating the one or so times that I heard it there. | Yeah, it sounded very Methodist to me. I'm not sure why, it just did. Quote: |
Out of curiousity, who preached when you were there? I could be wrong, but given your passion for theology, I'd be surprised if you didn't find Carl Neely's sermon's pretty shallow/weak. I've heard from my mom that Gene Sherman, the new assistant, is very good though.
| We got lost in Monaca and showed up late, so we didn't catch the whole sermon. What we did hear didn't strike me as particularly bad, but it didn't seem incredibly spectacular, either. What did strike me as somewhat odd was the cast-iron eagle wearing vestments. |
