My amp won't work?

Ok, so here's the deal.

I just bought two new leads, one to run from my distortion pedal to my guitar, and one to run from my pedal to my amp.

I plugged it in, turned it on, and cranked the volume, and nothing happened.

So I figured I'd hook up the guitar directly to the amp and forget the pedal for the moment.

I did that, and still nothing happened except that I got crackly static when I plucked a string.

So what's the go? The amp is functioning, and the fuse is fine, because if the fuse was blown then the amp wouldnt function period...

I'm confused...

Any thoughts,

Ryan

Try using different cables. They could be bad. Although, you did say they were new, so it's likely not them, but try anyways. If its not the cables, it could be the guitar. If its not the guitar, then it could very well be the amp. Just cause its on doesnt mean everything is fine with it. There's a bunch of things that could be wrong internally. Just wait till someone with more amp tech knowledge answers though, and they should help you out.

It's probably the jack in your amp. It's probably loose or something. Try turning your guitar and amp all the way up. Hit the strings of your guitar over the pickups with the palm of your hand a couple of times. I had a problem like this with my amp sometimes. I would do that, the speaker would click, and then the amp would work. It would do that every couple of weeks. I eventually replaced that amp because of the problem. Also, check your guitar jack to see if it's loose. Do you ever twist your cable in the jack? This can cause the wires which attach to the jack to break off. That's all I can think of. It's probably a problem with your amp because if it was the guitar, you would have been more likely to notice it getting loose and failing gradually.
