After several record breaking specials with PBS, John Tesh’s Christmas in Positano will air as a National PBS Special beginning on Thanksgiving, and running through December 2003. Christmas In Positano was filmed on the Amalfi Coast of Italy, including the cities of Amalfi, Ravello, and Positano. Featuring a lush mix of Christmas classics, Tesh, his band and the Italian Symphony perform live in beautiful outdoor venues, villages and historic cathedrals along the Italian coastline, including the Harbor in Positano, the Cathedral in Amalfi, the main square in Ravello and the cliffs overlooking Sorrento.

Christmas in Positano features classic carols and original seasonal pieces like “Joy To The World,” “Silent Night,” “We 3 Kings” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” the top 10 AC hit “This is your Gift” and many more (see below for song list). In the spirit of “Live at Red Rocks,” “Avalon” and “One World,” some of of PBS’s most successful fund-raising specials ever, Christmas in Positano is poised to become yet another PBS classic. This free program comes to SIP fully funded.

“’Christmas in Positano’ is one of the most unusual concert performances I’ve produced for PBS. The venues were a true inspiration for us”, says Tesh.

In addition to the national special, Tesh will be appearing live at local PBS stations including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Minneapolis. The pledge drives will offer exclusive Tesh items, and all proceeds will go to support the local PBS stations.

A full-length DVD version of Christmas in Positano will also be available as a special premium offer with Tesh’s Christmas Worship CD, which will release nationwide this October 14th. The CD features last year’s AC radio hit, “It Wouldn’t Be Christmas Without You.”

With three gold albums, six Emmys, a Grammy nomination, an Associated Press Award for investigative journalism, a Keyboard Magazine Award, several number one radio hits, three hit PBS specials and two tours as an Olympic announcer/composer, it’s obvious that John Tesh has a passion for his work.
