No really, "Vanilla Sky" sucked. And I am awesome. Awesome...I am the awesomest.

In any case, I don't own "Eternal Sunshine..." on DVD yet, but that's only because my best friend who lives down the hall in my dorm bought it. He owns several of my favorite movies, which makes things easier on my wallet.

The ending absolutely ruined that movie for me. Made the rest of it completely and utterly pointless.

In any case, anyone want to discuss Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

I'm in love with this movie. It's just a beautiful movie, and I don't usually use that adjective to describe movies. The writing, the directing, that acting, the camera techniques, all amazing. I love how they didn't actually use a whole lot of special effects, just camera and lighting techniques. And the music is brilliant too. Jon Brian is great at capturing emotion in the music. He did the same for Punch Drunk Love, another one of my favorites.

Ooh, I haven't bought it because my best friend owns it, but if there's a "Collector's Edition" I'll have to check it out.

This movie makes me **** my pants with joy constantly.

I love the track by Beck that's threaded throughout the movie, "Everyone's Gotta Learn Sometime". It's probably up there pretty high in the "best movie songs EVER!" list.

I'm falling in love with wierdass artsy films. This movie was amazing. I may watch it again, something I very rarely do with movies (I am tending to the whole watch-as-many-as-humanly-possible-because-I-have-Netflix approach) but this movie tempts me to violate that pattern.

And, yes, all the acting was excellent. Dunst, Wood, and Carrey all caught me off guard; as was noted in the beginning, these roles aren't what they are known for, yet they pulled them off really well.

I don't think it was a "weirdass arsty" film. It was a straight up romantic movie.

It is a great film. I've seen it maybe 5 times or so.

Well, you watch some really wierd movies. When I think "straight up", I think mainstream, and this movie is not mainstream.

Not really. I watch mostly pretty straight films. I just don't think there's anything weird about Eternal Sunshine.

The funny thing is that you actually seem to believe that you "watch mostly straight films," and you appear to actually be argueing with Donny over whether "Eternal Sunshine" is a mainstream/straight/normal romantic comedy or not.

Now for my official contribution to this thread, regarding this movie: I have seen it three times. It's a good movie. But honestly, I can't figure out what the bugger it is about. It's just good.
