New Electar Tube 10

I just wanted to thank all of you who helped me with my guitar amp decision. I ended up going with the Electar Tube 10 because of the cost over the Epiphone Galaxie and the Champ. I just received my today and I must say it is a nice little amp for the $85 price tag (used). This is my first personal guitar amp, but I've played through enough to know a decent one. It doesn't have a lot of clean head room, but it does break up nicely at low volumes...perfect for my basement practice!

I don't why you would get a solid state practice amp if you could find one of these used, or even new through MusicYo.com. Great little amp. I do think I'll change out the speaker down the road some time, but all in all it sounds pretty good with my OLP (cheap guitar, but good for the money).

Question

That's a good price - where did you get it?

Those little class A tube amps can be a lot of fun. I've known people to bypass the built in speaker and hook up to a 1x12 cab with nice jensens or celestions which can upgrade the tone and low end quite a bit. (This must be done with care to avoid running the amp with no speaker load and blow up the amp.)

So it breaks up real nice when you turn down the gain, and turn up the master?

That will be a great amp for recording.

That is a cheap price!

I was able to pick up this good deal off of the Harmony Central List. I just happened across it one day and I made the offer. I know for awhile MusicYo.com was selling them for something like $89 new, but now it's back up to $130.

After a little more tweaking this evening I was able to get a little more clean head room, but I really like the break up that I can get at low volumes. In the future I would like to swap out the speaker for a little better one, but all in all it seems like the best value and tone for my money!!
