Gasp. I hadn't read that post about the lawnmower. HOW CRUEL, PIETER! Dear me...what is the world coming to!

On the serious side....I have no qualms whatsoever about so-called 'cruelty to animals'. They don't matter one bit until abortion stops...

First of all, the attention-craving lawnmower comment was not funny or clever. Maybe someone should joke about your family pet getting mutilated by a lawnmower? Show some taste buddy.

I have two rats. They make very good pets. They're smart, affectionate, playfull, and trainable.

If you decide to get one, you MUST get a friend for it. They do not do well alone. They will become depressed and can even get neurotic. Proper diet is important, lots of fruits and veggies along with rat blocks. They also need stuff to chew on. Ask the pet store people what you need.

The one big downfall to having rats is that they only live 2-3 years and when they die, it's very hard, just like any close pet.

you need to learn that there are different types of humor and that what some people find funny you may not...which means you shouldn't get angry because someone find funny something that you personally find grotesque.

that said, what was so tasteless? as Thespia made clear from the beginning, the kind of rats she (and you) are talking about are far different from the types of rats you find living in the school cafeteria (or the middle of a weed-infested field). so if I talk about a rat from a weed-infested field getting killed in what WAS a rather amusing manner then you shouldn't take it as an insult against pet rats.

additionally, you might consider relaxing a little bit. I love cats. in fact, I like them better than any other traditionally kept pet there is. but I sitll find hilarious. would I like it if it happened to my cat? of course not. does that mean I can't laugh at a funny commercial? of course not.

Rats are cool, clean and nice animals. I breed (snakes sry) them and I never get tired looking at how the babies grow up and figuring the genetics out. I have kept rats, hamster, mice, gerbals, parakeets, corn snakes and leopard geckos and beside the reptiles they are the best pets, vary clean and have good personalities. If you need any info on care just let me know.
