Had a heck of a night last night, it came a tordado where Doug and I were camping!!!!!!!!!! We got out there JUST in time! It was so scary! I've never had to run for my life before, and I hope I never have to again. *shudders*
We had been hunting in the morning, and we saw a spike but Doug got up for lunch about 5 minutes too early and scared the deer away. Anyways, we went to Perryville for lunch and to buy some stuff for supper. Then we were gonna build this thing over the fire to hold the pot so we could cook cheesedip. Talk about redneck, it was quite fun! We went out at about 15.30 for a little evening hunting, but we didn't see a thing. It got darker and darker, and started lightening, we headed for the truck just in time. It was barely raining, just kinda thunderstorming, and only 17.30ish so we figured we could wait it out in the truck, then cook or whatever. We were chillin, listenin to the radio, talkin, etc. when it got worse and worse. It was lightening almost constantly, and I started noticing the trees blowing around an awful lot, then I suddenly had a terrible thought. It was 70º in late November, in Arkansas, and with that much lightening and that much wind, this is TORNADO weather! Either that or else it's gonna blow a tree over on us or something! Sh*t! It started pelting us with small sticks and pinecones and stuff from the trees, and Doug begged to leave, I was scared too. We turned on the radio, found a "talking station" that had the weather on and they were saying "textbook rotation" looks like tornado just north of Lake Winona in the WMA - somehow "oh sh*t" just doesn't quite cover it. There was nothing to do but get out of there and FAST. Forget rain and gravel road, I was sliding but it didn't matter we just Had to get out of there! They came on the radio again and said something about Perryville, so I knew we would hit the highway and head West as far away from Perryville as possible. AS soon as we got out on the highway, they came on the radio again and said confirmed tornado on the ground at Highway 155 north of Lake Winona - that's where we had been camped, on top of a hill on the gravel part of Hwy 155!!! It was SO scary! I drove and drove like mad! We had to put that storm behind us. It was raining bad, and windy too, and dark, and foggy, it was so hard to see and I'd never really been past the Hwy60/Hwy7 Jct but I was doin about 70mph anyway. Surprisingly I wasn't sliding around too much, God was definately protecting us. We Kept on and Kept on till about Pleasentville, where Hwy 60 "ends" it was only sprinkling there, but still lightening off towards the south. We parked at a well-lit laundromat (the only place in town really) and found Doug's mom's cell phone (which was thankfully already in the car) and called our parents and stuff. Dad got on the TV and told me that we were out of the storm-line, which is what I desperately wanted to hear. My cell phone and favorite hoodie are still in the tent. I'm glad we had the guns in the truck with us, coz they're safe too even though the case was left at the campsite. We kept tuned on the radio, they said it was storming in Conway. Dad also said that there was a tornado in Plummerville (just West of Conway). We chilled there at the laundromat for a little while, drank some DrP and calmed down a little bit, then we headed up Hwy 7 to Russelville to the Pilot (truck stop) where I knew they had food and a TV and that we could just chill there till the storm passed on out of Conway. There was a Wendy's in that Pilot, and a TV on the weathe channel. The storm-line was over my parent's house, which is about 45mi SE of Conway, so we headed on towards Conway (45mi SE from Russelville). Doug's car was parked at the WalMart near UCA so we hoped it didn't get a tornado there. I hopped behind a semi, cranked up the radio and drove on. It was pouring sometimes, and hard to see, but I kept my eyeballs on those taillights and listened incase there was anythin on the road. Saw a bunch of trees down along the way, and there was a bad wreck involving a lumber yard/store that got blew apart near Plumberville, there was twisted sheet metal on both sides of the interstate - but the roads were clear of debree. Conway was more than intact, there hadn't been any tornadoes through there. Thankfully, I had put Doug's keys on his spare clothes, which were still in my truck - otherwise they would've been left in the tent with his dirty clothes. We couldn't go to my apartment because of my roommates b*tchiness, and coz Sunday night is a "school night" *Bleeeh* and Doug wanted to go with me to a hearing on Monday morning (about my MIP ticket) - that's why we had intended to be in the tent Sunday night. Ok well, we just curled up in Doug's car. I was SO tired, we'd been up since 5.30 Sunday morning, got in bed about 21.45ish, not exactly sure, but it was before 22.00 I think. I slept like a log. Woke up a couple of times, but just barely enough awake to rememeber. I only rolled over once, there aren't really many positions that you can get into in a car. In the night, the cold front (that had caused the storms) settled in, we both woke up cold at about 5am. Doug fired up his car and cranked up the heat for a few minutes - I went back to sleep and woke up again coldish at about 7.15 but we planned to get up at 7.30 anyway. D*mn it was a rough night. Brushed my teeth in the WalMart bathroom. Found out that my rear passenger side tire is really low, dunno what's wrong with it. I had a nail in my front driver side tire on Saturday night, I changed it out for the spare in the WM parking lot while Doug was at work (before we left for the woods) so they only "spare" that I have right now, had a nail in it. But even with the nail in it, it was holding air OK, I just didn't want to risk having to change it later in the rain/mud/storm/whatever. This one, I haven't had time to look at yet, but it's even lower than the one with the nail! Go figure. At least we made it safe.
ETA: Probably can't go back out there to look for our stuff (tent, sleeping bags, air mattresses, gun case, Dutch oven/cookwear, huntin clothes, dirty clothes, etc) till Thursday. I'm afraid that there may be trees down over the road, and without 4WD I need the road to dry out a little bit.

wierded | Winona is the name of the Wildlife Management Area, which is 166K acres of Ouchita National Forest - Cherry Hill is a community/small town just outside of it near Hwy 155

| Well, when I camped at the Crossroads, that's not too far from Paron. Didn't see any deer there though ;-) Remember, I actually live closer to Aplin coz I live in Conway, you live in Hot Springs so you're closer to Paron.
Anyway, I spent like $9 at the laundromat today. Haven't done laundry in a while, and I was drying 3 sleeping bags from the great storm of last weekend. The sleeping bags didn't take much though, it was the washing that cost me. I used TWO tripple-load washers PLUS one regular load! I don't think their "tripple load" washers were quite that large, but hey, I had to use what they had. You'd think I was doing a whole family's laundry, I had some of Doug's jeans and shirts that are obviously not mine, plus some of Amber's shirts that are much smaller than I wear.....

| Chem test today, went OK. I probably got a B on it, if not better...
New pic on my xanga and facebook profile, Amber took it of Doug and I with her phone on Thanksgiving.
The weather forecast says SNOW on Wednesday night! Yipes, 70% chance too! Dr. Perry said we should hope for at least a foot, that way we wouldn't be able to have some stuff on the final coz he wouldn't get to lecture on it.

I got this G thing backwards I think, couldn't quite remember the sign for it, yeah, screwed me over like 10pts otherwise it would've been really close to that B. Grrr
It did snow, a NICE snow. The kind that sticks on the cars and grass, but not on the roads. Too bad it was like 25º for my last day of classes. Yeah, it was cold! BUT, not as bad as Thursday and Friday nights, when it was about 15º! yeah COLD! I hate cold, hate it hate it.
In other news, I am going to get my own apartment. Totally seperate from the school. Unfortunately, it cost a whole month's rent just to get out from under the school's lease. I swear, they totally screw you over with that lease, the way they write into it that you have to buy a f*ckin meal plan, and you have to buy a parking permit, and grrr...

| I had a bad day Thursday, cost me $200...
I felt really stupid. I was driving along (with Doug) looking for a road to turn off onto, and there was a turning lane in the middle of the road...but then it switched from turning lane to one of those dividing concrete islands. I hit it hard, pinched both tires on my side and bent both rims! :brickwall: :brickwall:
Had to walk to WalMart, approximately 2 miles. Doug's car was there so...Yeah. I'm glad he was already there with me. We've had some of the strangest adventures together. Kinda reminds me of the stories I hear from my parents from their dating and college days. LOL

| Long time no post. Yeah. I didn't get online much over Christmas break. Dial up is frustratingly slow. Not to mention that I wasn't home much either. I worked full-time and went to Doug's house after work, stayed out late, came home, slept and then did it all over again. But I ate better than usual. I don't usually cook for myself but I cook for Doug, and he cooks for me, so we ended up eating pretty good.
In January I moved into my own apartment. I won't go into all the details here, but it's great! School started on Friday the 13th and everything like that.
