4th of July

For the Fourth of July, we went to the lake (lake Bennet) and just chilled. Seemed to take forever for us to finally leave the house. My mom and sisters take forever to get ready.
Lovely day for swimming, hot enough to enjoy the water but not so terrible that you couldn't sit on the beach too. It was thunder-showery, but it didn't rain or anything. At one point there was some distant lightening, the lifeguards made everyone get out for a little while. We just got a snack till they let us back in.
I've gotten old, I spend more time just chillin in the water than I do "playing" - of course it's hard to really play when you're there by yourself.
After we showered, we grilled hamburgers and they were really, really good.
It was definately a good, fun day at the lake.

I'm supposed to be camping right now. That dumb hurricane came through and ruined everything. I don't give a **** if the people on the coast get hurricanes/storms - they CHOSE to live down there (the same as we get tornadoes) - I'm just pissed when those same ****in storms decide to come up here and ruin my plans. The plans I've had for the past 5-6 weeks! Grrr!

Dad and I were gonna go anyway, the chance of rain in Dardanell isn't that great. I'm sure it was Mom who convinced him that we should only camp on Tuesday/Wednesday instead of Mon/Tue/Wed. She is such a wuss!!!!!!! What's the point of camping one night, I mean you spend all of the first day setting up and all of the second day tearing down!!! I PLANNED for a 3-day weekend for a reason! I wanted some time to run around and explore! *sigh*
I for one am NOT the least bothered by the prospect of rain. Even if it rained all day - which it's noon and it hasn't rained yet so that couldn't happen. I've spent all day being soaked, walking through the rain, sitting soaked in air conditioned classrooms for hours, having to get wet just to get to eat, etc. and I was actually PAYING for that privilege! I laugh in the face of rain. I wish my family wasn't such a wuss about it. It is summer, we're planning on going Swimming what's wrong with getting wet?

I've been quite grouchy these past couple of days. Maybe PMS-related, but I don't think so really. Probably I'm dreading moving back to school next month.

The furniture that I have here is swelled up from the humidity. This makes it very hard to open the drawers and stuff, so instead of fighting with them I tend to just throw stuff on the floor. Which I eventually start HATING coz I can't move in my room.....and then I hate having to pick it all up (which I'm doing tonight) and the whole time I grumble about how it's so hard to put it up. I have all this extra junk for my college 'home' (like towels and stuff that I normally just use the family's collection.....) and this creates huge, annoying, cursed, avalanches when I toss something new on the pile! Grrrrr
I can't find my coolMax tank top.....swore I knew where it was all winter and now I can't find it!
Yeah, and it seems like I can't find anything! It might be packed here, or it might be there.....so then I hafta go digging through all these piles of boxes! I was looking for a favorite book thisafternoon, I decided against looking for it coz it was just too much trouble. Then I feel really sucky coz it's just too much trouble to do what I want to do (read the book)

I feel kinda stuck in-between because it's too hot to do much outside, and yet I can't wait for huntin season so I can be outside....yada yada yada

NOT TO MENTION that my job is going downhill FAST because of this f*ckin new manager.....

Today, I'm in a better mood. I got a letter saying that they officially reinstated my scholarship (thanks to my summer-Chemistry class A). I also cleaned my room a little bit and bought another book by Henry Larom on ebay. I even did some chores and started packing to move again! *sigh* as much as I don't want to move, I'm tired of living here too...I will be 20 before next summer. I have no real intention of moving back here. Not that it's bad or anything, but I just feel old, like I need to have my own life.
Strange turn-around. After spring break last year I was wishing for a family again. This is a tough time of transition!

What's going on with your manager?

It's a new manager, he's been here less than a month. He's really anti-social and all he does is sit on his arse in his office all day long.

He seems to think that cashiers waste time/money all the time. The younger ones do tend to, but instead of firing them he's cutting everyone's hours to save money! So, not only do we get paid less (less hours) the work is also much harder because:
1) The customers "pile up" in line, and there is never a breather in-between rushes
and
2) The customers complain about having to stand in line, or else standing in line makes them extra-grouchy even if they don't *complain*

Ick...that sucks.

It also sounds about like our Wal-Mart, which drives me nuts with waiting times...but I am still nice to the cashiers, don't worry. I figure they have to be as annoyed by it as me.

I don't get paid near enough to put up with **** like that

I committed the ultimate sin tonight.

I b*tched at a customer

she had stood there on the phone while I rang up her items on the other lady's ticket.....because she put the bar in the wrong place. Then I asked her if these were her items, and she was so busy talking that she didn't answer me. So, I asked her again. When she finally figured out what I wanted I told her that while she was busy talking I was ringing them up on the other lady's ticket. I didn't think that was such a rude thing to say.....but aparently she did. That's when she told the phone-person that she was gonna report me So I figured I was screwed anyway....
I didn't actually say anythign too bad, I was just annoyed at her coz she wouldn't asnwer my questions and stuff coz she wouldn't get off the damn phone. she said 'I know you've probably had a bad day, but so have I and that's no reason to be rude to me' me, being rude? she already told the person on the phone that she was gonna tell my manager, so I figured I was already screwed, so I told her 'that's no reason to be rude to me either'
Man, did that offend her! I mean I just accused her of being rude to me! (it's perfectly alright for her to accuse me of being rude, but I can't accuse her....nooooo) The CSMs told me that I couldn't do that, but they said not to worry about it much.

I'm always tempted to pull out my phone and strike up a conversation with a random person until they get off their phone.

Being a cashier is SUCH an unfair job. I mean, people can complain about you for the slightest little thing that they chose to take offense at, but you can't say a thing back to them. This I know, but who made the rules? Sometimes I break them

*sigh* work

Last night (Saturday) I was SO tired, I went straight to bed after I got home from work.
Friday night I stayed up late and was stressed coz of the previously-mentioned "fight" with the customer. I SO could've used a drink. I was up till about 2:15-2:30am! Then, there was a 7:30am cashier meeting. That was OK, nothing major. I have concluded that as long as Todd is in our store, we will never have our guns back.
After that, Amber and I didn't have anything else to do and didn't work till 17:00. Alicia had bugged us to go to her sunday school's swim party, so we went. She ignored us after her friend Nick got there...We stayed for a little while but then went shopping. We went to Kohls, Wal-Mart (not the one we work at, lol), Barnes and Noble, and Best Buy. We went to Best Buy "so that I [Amber] wouldn't be tempted to buy anything, because I can't afford anything there!"
Then we went to work. I was already really tired.
My third customer (at the end of the line coz there was no cashiers there coz of the new manager - that's another rant!) came up to the register behind me and was deactivating the security tags in 3 DVDs. I told CSM James as he walked by. When she got up to check out, she took an extra bag and "discreetly" (I saw her, lol) put the [deactivated] DVDs from her purse into it. OK, so I finish ringing up her groceries and stuff, acting like nothing's wrong. She was acting quite nervous (I mean, I've seen millions of customers, I know what they're "supposed" to act like...) Some of the managers are gathering around...
She "paid" by check, wrote it for $20 over, and volunteered her DL to me (in a wallet window-thingy). Her DL was obviously SO fake, it was like, the picture and number part of it were from a different DL than the address part, it was like two cards cut out and kinda just stuck together. Total BS! The system kicked it out saying she'd written too many checks in the past 3 days (to Wal*Mart or Sam's, at any location). This automatically requires a manager. I got Todd, and told him to check her ID because I thought it was fake. I also told him about the DVDs that were NOT on her receipt. Jason actually delt with her, she told him that she didn't have her ID with her - I so should've said "but you just showed it to me" but hey, I already told him that I'd seen it and everything. We're not supposed to be very loud about bad customers and stuff....it's touchy business. Jason suspended the transaction, and told her he needed to call the bank to verify her check. I think he kept the check. She took her kid out to the car and never came back. I got a "Good Job" button from Todd.
That kind of stuff gives me SUCH an adrenalyn rush, which I just don't care for, it's stressful - especially when I'm so low on sleep. The rest of the day wasn't too eventful. At the end of the day, this lady complimented me for being "very efficient" because I put her bags in her buggy while she wrote out her check.

TODAY
Today wasn't too eventful. I slept like a log last night. Got up at 9:10 to leave for church at 9:25, but I felt better anyway. It was cool in church, but it wasn't too bad in my classroom. If it's EVER 40-below in there again, I'm NOT staying. Not a whole lot, we ate good this afternoon. I read Mountain Pony and the Pinto Colt by Henry Larom. It's shorter than the original Mountain Pony and not quite as good. The bad guys are just not quite as believable. Anyway, it IS a kid book, and it was still fun! Worth the $3.50 I paid for it ;-) I went outside a little bit. Our kittens have disappeared off the face of the planet. I'm serious, they haven't been seen in a coulple days! At first I figured they were hiding, I mean it did come a big storm right after they went missing. But no one has been nursing from Sara (their mother) and she's uncomfortably full of milk. That tells me that the kittens are not hiding, they just aren't here. I'm thinking a snake might've got them? It would've been something that they wouldn't've run from. They would've run from a dog, coon, fox, whatever, but they might've been curious of a snake or something. I dunno. They aren't here, that's what I do know.
Anyway, I got ready for work like an hour early and dozed till about time to go. I didn't sleep deeply, but I did get some dozing in. Not because I was especially tired, but I slept coz it seemed like a good opportunity - and I had nothing better to do. Work was pretty dull, though kinda busy. NO ONE was there, hardly any managers, hardly any cashiers.....thanks to Mr. Miller. I mean, my hours were cut a LOT this week. I keep complaining about it. I should keep raising hell about it. I outta speak to Mr. Miller myself, except that he's about as personable as a grapefruit. Mark Shelton is quite friendly....hmmm.
Anyway, I'm sure that Alamisha was up to something again tonight, I just dunno what exactly and can't prove anything. I was on the door, and got let off late. Then I had to do a price check. The only other similar items were on the TOP shelf and NONE of them had a barcode anyway. Give me 5 more minutes and I would've had to've taken a lunch! Oh well, sometimes things just take extra time.

I got bored and decided I'd come post here.... I was wondering.... did you get a door hanger from Crossgate? or like a group of 3 teenagers come to your door between the 11 and 13th..... cause yeah... we had something called frontliners... they sent a bus up there for it... to like share the gospel ect... yeah... too bad you can't work at the village Wal*Mart.... he he.... I know the manager (ehh he's in the hospital right now with cancer.. he's not doin too great either) and I know the assitant managers... they're all really good people...

Funny story i heard about when they got ready to accept applications for that place... since you know it's Hot Springs Village they got like 3,000 applications.... 2,000 of which were for the position of greeter... yeah..

mm.... that's all I have to say... oh and you go to UCA right? cause I know some people who go there...

I have no clue what you're talking about.... although, a lot of people in bright neon-lime Tshirts that said cross-something were in the store last night. I only saw them checking out and buying cigarettes and stuff....so I dunno.

This sucks my computer won’t let me reply so I’m gonna have to type everything in Word…. Anyways the reason why I asked about UCA is cause someone I know goes there…. Alex Miller…. Didn’t know whether or not you knew him… I was just wonderin… Anyways I guess that’s it…. I feel very odd typing this in word… hmm... now it'll let me type.... interesting

Oh and are you gonna like go to any of the concerts? if so tell me which ones and maybe we could meet at one of those.... but yeah tell me when you're goin and sometime I'll try to come....
