| Dol Guldur was where Sauron lived in the Hobbit, as the Necromancer.
Utumno was, I think, where Morgoth (the original baddy) lived. I thought it had another name, though...Thangorodrim, or something. |

| Utumno- Melkor, or Morgtoh's, first stronghold that he ever guilt. Evil begain at this place.
Angbad- While Melkor was at Utumno, Sauron was given the command of Angbad. After Utumno fell, Morgoth went into imprisonment. Eventually he was let free by the Valar and when he fled Valinor he eventually came back to Angbad (of course he did other things before he came back to Angbad, but that would take too long to tell). It then became his second stronghold.
Barad-dur- Sauron's first strognhold in Mordor. But then he was defeated (Second Age), and went into the shadow.
Dol Goldur- Sauron slowly came back after his defeat and built up Dol Goldur in Mirkwood.
Angmar- The realm of the Witch King, or the cheif ringwraith, before he fled to Mordor in the Third Age.

| Its tough.................Thangorodrim is where evil first started. It was the deepest, darkest place ever. It is where Melkor first bred his evil.
But, from Angbad, Morgoth did the most damage to Beleriand and Middle Earth.

| The others aren't really close to Thangorodrim and Angbad, but I expect that all those who've only read LOTR or just seen the movies will vote for Mordor/Barad-Dur.

| I agree with you guys. Angbad is where most of the woes brought upon middle-earth were wrought, but as it's been said, Thangorodrim was the first great place of evil.
I voted for Angbad. |

| I will say Utumno/Thangorodrim. This was the heart of Melkor/Morgoth's kingdom on ME. I can't image a more terrifing place. |

| Utumno. If evil hadn't started here, then it wouldn't have created all the other places. It's the source. Yeah evil could have begun somewhere else. that's not the point.

| I said Angbad, though I thought it was Angband, just seemed pretty bad. Mordor seems pretty awful, but I didn't see it listed. |
