No that's not him. I got him mixed up with another person. This other one had made a couple recordings himself, but I don't think they got off the ground too well. Like I said, he was a kind of strange person. Funny thing, I had found out about the recording on the internet. But now I can't find it, heh, strange huh?

I was supposed to be a mime. I looked like a serial killer.

It's Day Three of NaNoWriMo 2009. I am writing in thirty minute slots and taking breaks when I feel blocked and it's working so far. I've met my 1,667 words-per-day quota the first two days and I'm about 400 short of meeting today's. I think I could really knock a chunk out of it if I could get somewhere really comfortable and quiet. This is working though, so I'm not complaining.

My story is just starting and I have no clue where it's going. It's centered around a fictional lake here in North Carolina. I know that it's going to have supernatural things going on around it, but I haven't decided the nature of them yet. Right now I've got five guys partying out at the lake. I don't know if any of them are going to develop into main characters or if they are just the introduction to whatever is going to happen later. I'm taking my time and trying my best not to force the story. That sounds odd, given the nature of NaNoWriMo, but I'm trying a different approach this year. This is my seventh year in a row and I've only finished once. I usually come up with a really detailed outline the week before the writing begins and try to plug things into it. It hardly ever works for me. The outline restricts my writing and I feel bad about veering too far away from it.

This year I'm winging it.

It's 2 pm and I'm taking a writing break. I've already made my word count for today but I'm going to shoot for even more. I'd like to be sitting at (or over) 9,000 words before I go to bed tonight. If you go the minimum (1,667 words per day) you hit 10,000 words on Day Six. I'd like to break that early tomorrow, which would be a day early.

50,000 words is a short novel, a really short novel. I'm hoping to get at least 70,000 words. That will give me plenty of room to edit and rewrite with cutting it down too much.

I'm listening to a band called Flaskavsae. They call themselves ambient darkwave. It's mostly instrumental. They are professing Christians, but like I said, there are no lyrics. They put out a split album with another darkwave band called Dark Procession. It's really interesting stuff. I never got into the really dark heavy stuff when I was younger because I didn't like the satanic imagery. This stuff is really different than what I expected. It's mostly noise, in a good way. It doesn't have recognizable song structures or rhythms or melodies. When there are lyrics, they sound like Golem with H1N1. The funny thing is that it's not abrasive like some death metal is. I don't know that I can describe it.

Have I mentioned Orphaned Land or Amaseffer yet? They are very interesting. Both of them are "progressive" metal bands that incorprate authentic Hebrew folk music into their songs. I really dig them a lot. I don't know that I've ever heard anything like either one of them before.

Any particular reason you're writing a novel?

National Novel Writing Month is a "for fun" contest created by a guy named Chris Baty. This is the seventh year I've attempted it. I've only finished once.

I'll probably put it up online somewhere and put the link in here.

Cool. you mentioned earlier in your postings that the story was centered around a so called lake in North Carolina. I guess you seen your xanga lately of the post I put in about the James Taylor song I have been listening to a lot, Carolina In My Mind. When I get to read your finished product, I will put on the song while I read it to set the mood in a sense, lol.

Things are not well here. The cramped up living conditions, when added to the stress from not being able to find a job, is really starting to wear us down. Tempers are ragged, fuses are short and the walls feel like they are closing in on us.

I can't see the light at the end anymore. I don't know what to do about it.
