I used to play it in band for a year before i switched to saxophone but now i only play when there aren't enough decent clarinets to play a particular piece or they aren't loud enough
I play in a band, not a 55 peice orchestra, but it's not that bad....
I like to play 2nd clarinet personally, bass is a little dull at the place I'm at right now... just a bunch of quarter notes and whole notes.....
I've been playing 7 years but I dropped out of band at school.. so I'm studying privately with a local professor. She's really good and I'm enjoying the experience a lot I think this year my solo is going to be Sonatina by Malcolm Arnold. It's kind of modern-ish (1951) so it'll be fun
I started playing the clarinet nearly 9 years ago, but I haven't played very much over the past few years...it's kinda hard when the only things available are first and second year band books...

dumb statement du jour:a stadium's like a big building, right?
I started playing the clarinet at age 8 or nine did my grades 4 and 5 (this in UK don't know about USA). Worked on grade 7 for a while but got my lessons cancelled because didn't go to them. I struggled with practicing all the time and then was too scared to go to the teacher at the weekly lesson. Playin in the school orchestra and wind band was fun but I haven't really played since I was 15 (I'm now 19). It's a very nice instrument though, very mellow.
