eko...glad to see you're back. i gave up cgr for lent, so that's why you haven't seen me. so, why have i posted? 'cause today tis sunday...not lent. anyway, im me sometime. or wait til easter, but i can't guarantee that i'll be on much after that, either.

much shorter entry than last week. i have always been aware of a lot of the crap that's on the radio today--the current music moreso than the oldies--and it's really been bothering me lately, as i hear new songs that my friends are listening to. i mean, this stuff is just horrible in many senses...especially how a lot of them treat and talk about women...it's disgusting. the straw (more like the giant redwood tree) that broke the camel's back...'baby got back.' aka...'i like big butts.' if you're not familiar with the song, just read a bit of the lyrics and you will see what i mean...and what kills me is that girls actually like this stuff. i don't understand it...how could they, as a female, listen to, promote, and like these songs that treat women as mere objects? i just don't get it...i just want to ask, 'are you stupid? do you not know what you are condoning? do you not know that you are only helping the cycle of violence? do you value your dignity so little that you think this is alright?' and then how men are portrayed. like you can only be a 'man' if you are a player who just uses women. and then the good guys, who know what real love is--who are the real men--and who recognize the dignty in all people...they are painted as losers, not worth your time. and i must say that it really ticks me off. this is really sad that we have come to this point in culture. and i know that it has never been perfect, but man i wish that these artists would just clean up their acts. i mean, i'd rather listen to kid rock (or who was it...limp bizkit...maybe him) rap/sing f*** for an entire day than hear what's being played right now. it really is a shame. all the profanity ever created, ever spoken would sound sweeter to my ears than this degrading music.

please forgive the rant, but this really upsets me.

this lent has been the most desert-like one i've ever had. despite this, i really am happy. sure, things haven't really been working out for me lately, with the things i want to do and the things i have acutally been doing...but i can be happy at what i do have, and what i have done, even if there is still more for me to do. but i can take consolation in certain things, and be content.

i know...but wouldnt it be nice if we could? i mean, the "reasons" for columbine would be solved, women wouldnt be abused...the world would be a bunch of guitar-strummin, folk singin, peace lovin greenies...

yeah....unfortunately our real problem can't be fixed by us. dang, me and my mom were talking this morning about what lincoln or washington would think if they came back into our culture and time today. they would be mortified. and to think that we're steadily getting worse....heck, if we could get one of those men into a mall i can gurantee you they'd be walking around with their eyes closed trying to find the exit.

its totally true that music and tv mess up kids. If they turn on some rap that repeats its self about raping women and doing dungs and beating its self into kids heads with its droning beat they will become immuine to thier concious and go out and do these things. yeah its totally true. all that crap is totally messed up. i see guys groping ond ogling girls all the time and its sick. they are seen as possesions, not people. its totally screwed.

and guys do get made fun of for not being like that. i did. all the guys around me would make fun of me for not touching girls (i mean like in a relationship: all touchy feely and all), not wanting to have sex before marriage, and for treating girls nice. but then all the girls started noticing thati actually treated them nice, and then i met sarah, and she was like, "you are one of the nicest guys ive met" so guys, be nice to women and treat em right. i command you. no but seriously, it works.

and im so sorry all you girls have to put up with that. you guys have it way harder than guys do, and we should see that and appreciate you guys for dealing with it.
