I downloaded Amazon's Ultimate Collection last week. I'm kinda digging AA. What album(s) should I check out next?

Depends- "Some Kind of Zombie" is more of an alternative hard rock album...
"Bloom" is more along the grunge lines...
"Until My Heart Caves In" is kind of garagey/southern rock...
"LIFT" tended towards the poppier side...
"Worldwide" kind of blended everything together, I think. Like, pop, '80s arena rock, and alt all in one package. I like it.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

Thanks. I was looking at the "Lift" album, maybe I'll start there.

I'd start at the beginning, and head toward the end. Seriously, take their albums and music in chronological order. You'll get the evolution of their musical style and of Mark Stuart's voice as it matured, turned gritty, and finally began to give out, along with the rise of Tyler Burkum giving his voice to the band. I own all of the Audio A albums, two of which are autographed by Mark and Will, and my favorites are Lift, Underdog, Bloom, Don't Censor Me, and then Until My Heart Caves In, in that order. But none of their music is bad, really. I listen to all of their stuff.

Oh, except for their first, self-titled album. Only listen to that if you have a high audio-pain tolerance or really enjoy early-nineties hip-hop. Like early dcTalk, only worse. Even the members of the band apologized for it at a concert I went to.

I went to a concert once with a huge poster reading Play "My God"!. I think it was during their Lift tour, might have been Underdog. Anyway, they pointed at us, laughed, and called us idiots.

I've always claimed that my favorite album is Underdog. It just seems like the best mixture of rock music and solid lyrics. Yes, Lift is probably the more polished album, thanks to "Ocean Floor" and "Rejoice", but I stand by my decision.

I saw their last concert in the contiguous 48.

Lift is the more polished, more worshipful album, more of a maturely written project, I think. Underdog is the epitome of exactly what Audio A was in it's heyday, and what they still warrant discussion as: the best Christian rock band out there. You can hear the maturity of Lift beginning to come through, but its balanced with the sense of unbridled fun that permeated most of their early stuff. Both are good records. Both rank in my top-ten all time favorites, in fact. I just have to give Life the ever-so-slight edge for Speak to Me, Glory, and Ocean Floor.

I went to see a concert they were doing recently as Audio A Talks, with just Mark and Will and a few people from their church's music team talking about their days as a band and playing some of their songs. I loved hearing the story behind Good Life, and how God used a song Mark wrote to touch his life during a very tough time. I cried when they left the stage, because I knew that was as close as I would ever get to seeing Audio A in concert.

Then I went out, and got my picture taken with them, and a poster and some album covers signed. And then TFK came out to play, and all my tears were rawked away.

Looking at the tracklisting for the ultimate collection on Amazon it looks like you've got more than half of the songs from Underdog already, and close to half of Until My Heart Caves In, so I'd skip those for now. There's only two from Lift so going with that would be sensible. Also, it's my wife's favourite audio A album If you also happen to be a Supertones fan, Some Kind of Zombie has a track featuring their vocalist and horn section, and you've only got one song from that album on the ultimate collection.

It's hard to pin down one because they seemed to have gone through so many changes in styles. If I had to pick a couple it would be Hands and Feet and Good Life.

I'll add Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher because I loved Jackie Wilson.
