Who is funnier?
Ok, this is a generalization, but I always find that guys are a lot funnier than girls. There are a lot of jokes that guys can tell, but when a girl tells it, it's just not as funny. I also dislike the majority of female stand-up comedians. PMS is not funny. Well haha that sentence sounded funny. Anyway... Where girls do have an advantage, imo, is doing things that seem uncouth coming from a female. It shocks people, which makes me laugh. And I'm not talking about burping and other things of the sort.

So yeah, any opinion on this...?

Usually, guys such as Bill Cosby, Jeff Foxworthy etc are much funnier. But I'd have to say that the funniest person alive to me is Maria Bamford. She is a riot!

It depends on the humor a lot of the time. I know plenty of guys who are painfully unfunny, but get laughs because they are popular.

I also know a lot of ridiculously hilarious girls who don't really use their sense of humor with too many people. Like it is sort of discouraged and only expected from the guys.

Also, Jeff Foxworthy is not funny.... at all.

I don't think it matters if your male or female.
It just depends on who's in your audiance. If someone thinks your funny, another person may disagree; like Benj and Jason, for example.

Hi Amanda-Rama-It's-A-Cool-Cool-Summer,

I feel that women haven't really been given a chance as much as men in stand-up. Jenny Jones has talked about when she worked as a comedienne in the 80s - back then a woman doing stand-up was thought of as a novelty act - kind of like the midget wrestlers before the real WWF show. It frustrated her that they never took her seriously and the environment was also offensive and harassing towards women.

So right now it's easier to compare the genders and there will be more men on the list than women - just like a list of famous inventors, famous prime ministers, etc. but that may be largely because the opportunities were only afforded to men.

Maybe time will tell? Since you and I will still be on CGR in 20 years, I'll put a note to myself to link to this thread then and we could re-open the question? Terrific!

I think that some girls are hilarious, mostly my best friends Catherine and Ashley, and everyone is always telling me I'm so funny, and I'm a girl. But I do admit that if I hung out with a guy for an hour, then a girl for an hour, the guy would make my abbs stronger just from me dying laughing. I've had that experience! So yeah. I'd definitely say almost every single guy in my youth group has an awesome sense of humor and could make me laugh anytime, anywhere, but most of the girls aren't, or just don't try to be, very funny.

ya girls arent funny. i always watch women do stand up on like comedy central and its pathetic. There are some girls out there that are funny tho. In my whole life i know two girls that i can honestly say are funny and have comedian qualities....only two.

Girls can say funny things...but arnt funny by nature....and if ya dont like that take it up w/ the Big Guy
