Help! Crackling noises!

Hey, I've got a problem. I've got an Epiphone G400, and every time I move it around at all it starts making these ugly crackling noises. One of my friends got it fixed a month or two ago, but apparently that was just a temporary solution. I'm not a technical expert or anything, but I think the problem has to do with something in the output that's not pressing up against the cable tight enough. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Strat_dude

It could very well be that your output jack is either dirty or the back end of it has been pushed out of the way. Do you remember sticking anything into it that was longer than a normal 1/4" plug??? I would try first to clean it off with either an appropriately sized wire brush and somce contact cleaner or (if you can't find the wire brush) just the contact cleaner and give it a go. If that doesn't work, it's more likely to be the end contact itself that has moved out of the way. It's not too hard to fix. A new end jack is about 2 bucks, if that, and it takes some soldering skills to replace it. If you were my next door neighbor, I'd do it for free, but a repair shop is probably going to charge you 30 bucks or so to do it.

I'm guessing that's what it is, since my friend who fixed it a while back said he "tightened something up in there." I might give the cleaning idea a try though too.

Thanks...
