Lightbulb READ THIS FIRST!!! Everything you will need to know about graphics on CGR!!!

How to put a picture under your name (Avatar):

How to put a pic in your sig:

Go up to the top of this page... Click on User CP. Click on Signature. Then use this:

<img src="[Location of image]">

To find the location of image Right Click [the image] > Properties > Address(URL) It should be listed there as something like http://www.host.com/images/picture.gif

How to make the picture a link:

Use this:

<a href="[URL/Address]"><img src="[Location of image]"></a>

URL/Address shoyuld be something like http://www.christianguitar.org

Remember the max size of a pic in a sig is 430x150...

Hope this helped. If you have any questions PM one of the mods.

How to resize:

Method A (highly reccomended):

Download IrfanView ( www.irfanview.com ). It's the best program for resizing pictures because it uses special filters so as not to make them blurry and yucky... From there, open the pic you want resized and hit Image (menu). Click Resize/Resample. In the height and width put what you want. It should resize proportionally (if not go to bottom and select Preserve Aspect Ratio). HIt OK and save it...

Method B (not very reccomended):

Open Paint. Click Image (menu). From here you have 2 options:

1) Hit Stretch/Skew. Type in a percentage in each of the boxes under Stretch. Hit Ok. To check how big it is, go to Image (menu), Attributes. Then it'll say.

2) Hit Attributes. Put sizes in the boxes. However, in this step, it will not resize proportionally. I'd only reccomend this if the image's width is the same as it's height (i.e. a square). Otherwise, get out the calculator and set up a proportion.

Method C (for Mac users):

Have someone who has a Mac tell you how to do it...

I don't want to be mean or anything, but it's really annoying because all you see in this forum is Resizing threads...

Oh, and the maximum avatar sizes are as follows:

Non-Paid-Members: 90x90pixels

Paid Members: 125x125pixels

If you have an animation that you need resized, it's a little trickier, and I'm only "specialized" in a program which costs $120, so, try using www.gifworks.com, ask someone else (Who has a freeware animator) or post a thread asking for it to be done for you.

You're welcome. Be happy, The Twig has let out all of his secret information for people like you to now know.

Or one could just use www.gifworks.com

Is there an html command that lets you constrain images to a certain size without having to resize and then repost them?

Well, yes. you'd use <img src="blah.com/blah" width="n" height="n"> Only n would be the size (in pixels). This isn't always the greatest idea thouh because if you ave a file that's say 1024x768 and 136kb, you'd just display a picture that's say, 300x186 and still 136kb. So, it doesn't do that much good. It's not like that'll resize your images for you or anything. I mean, i suppose you could like take a screenshot of it, crop it and save, but what's the use?? But yeah, that's how you do it...

I am having trouble with putting a pic in my siggy. I followed the instruction but got lost after that. I think it has to do with getting the URL. The only thing I found was this from the location of the pic c:\ , do I need to add something to that. I think I am missing some information here.

You have to upload the image to the internet. Go to the POST ALL SIG PICS HERE thread and post it there as an attachment. Then, right click > Properties > Location.

Microsoft released this really cool PowerToy for XP called Image Resizer. All you have to do is find the pictures you want to resize in Windows Explorer, right-click the pictures, and hit "Resize Images." You can resize the pictures to a wallpaper size, or you can click "Advanced" and resize the pictures to any size you want. It's really handy for when you want to make photos smaller for a web page or make images fit an avatar here. Click here to download it.

in windows vista, if you right click a picture, there is and option to set as desktop wallpaper (this is assuming you are using firefox i believe) so less software and just as much power

Yes that is right. I use it quite a bit. Firfox is a pretty amazing browser if you ask me.
