Narnia and Walden media

so, i've been hearing ro the past year or so now, that Walden Media is doing the series on the Chronicals of Narnia. Anybody know anything about its progress? Anybody know if there's still time for auditions?

Last i heard, which was in a WORLD mag, that they were still casting the lion the witch and the wardrobe. that was about 3 months ago...

There hasn't been much information put out about the Narnia movies... go to www.narnia.com or www.theonering.net (even though it's for lotr it has had some info about the Narnia movie on it) for updates. I just looked it up on imdb.com, and it's still in pre-production and is scheduled to start later this year for a summer 2004 release.

There are already Narnia videos, and they are from like the 80s. I think they were British made.

Those that you refer to are BBC productions. Very low budget. Entertaining anyway.

thanks for those sights Elwing! i dunno how i missed that in google...maybe it wasn't out last time i checked. hmm. anyhow, it had pretty good info. I know a girl who wants to play Jill in one of the movies high sights i know. She's an excellent actor, but i dunno if she fits the character all that well. So now i'm just looking around.

I wonder where they're gonna shoot the film, and if they're gonna do all the books. I hope so, and i hope it's not as cheap as the ones made in the 80's If they do it right, it could be very cool.

I love those old bbc narnia videos (or dvd's) . They don't have spectacular effects, but they are very accurate. Has anyone else noticed the guy in the teddy bear suit? My brother noticed him last time we watched them (yes, I watch them, even though I'm "too old" to watch them ). It's funny, it's not a bear suit, it's a teddy bear suit.

I know that the new movies will likely have wonderful special effects , I just hope they stay as accurate to the books as the bbc production did. Fortunately one of c.s. lewis' relations (grandson?) is going to be involved in the project, so one can hope for accuracy.

They are likely going to be filmed in New Zealand (got that from the imdb board, i think).

I didn't really like the old BBC productions. I haven't seen all of them, but the ones I have were quite boring. I hope the movie is better.

I just found some info about the Narnia movies. Here's the link (found it at TORn) http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,2555530a10,00.html

If you don't want to read the whole thing, here are the points I thought were most interesting: Walden Media has bought the rights to all seven books in the C. S. Lewis series and it plans to serialise them into up to five movies at a production cost of about $200m per film, and they will most likely be made in N.Z. because of their incentives, although Canada and Australia are offering good incentives also.

Ha, thanks. I can't remember where I found it...

And according to comingsoon.net, they are planning to shoot in New Zealand, except for some snow scenes which will mostly be shot in the northern hemisphere. Apparently, they are shooting Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe first. Strange...

One of the biggest problems of the internet is that I can't always tell if someone is being sarcastic or not.

Although chronologically it's out of order, The Lion, the Witch, and Wardrobe was the first published, so....eh? What's the harm?
