| Mavs's Trade Rumors Well, since i'm such an avid Mavs fan, and there are many others on the board, i thought i'd start a thread about all the trade options our team has. Here we go:
NJ Trade:
Kidd in a sign and trade for Steve Nash and Eschmeyer
Toronto Trade:
Lafrentz and #29 pick for Antonio Davis and #4 pick (Bosh)
Chicago Trade:
Michael Finley for Eddie Robinson, Donyell Marshal, Marcus Fizer
what do you guys think of those trades? Which one seems most likely to happen? None? The only one i'd like to see done is the Toronto trade, although we might be dealing with some different picks and stuff, I like getting rid of Lafrentz and bringing in two big men.
Thoughts?

| i don't like the Chicago trade at all because we'd lose really our heart and soul, and get guys who are mediocre at best. And they would take up roster spots that we could use to sign other guys with like Raja, and maybe a big man. I would hate to see Nashie go, but if we got kidd in return it would be a good trade, and we'd get rid of Esch's contract.

Nash has been a key part in bringing us this far and he has a really good friendship with Dirk, who wouldn't want to see him go either. Also, he is more consistant from the outside than Kidd will be here, and that is a big part of the Dallas offense.
On top of all that, I love Steve Nash and would pissed if they got rid of him. Quote:

| This trade, on the other hand, is very appealing. Raef hasn't really developed the way we've wanted, and Davis is a proven big man who can rebound the ball. Plus getting another young guy in here with Bosh would be most excellent, as well. This is a real possibility? Quote:

| These guys aren't that great. Plus, trading Finley is more than just trading 18-20 points, it is trading leadership. Finley has been here through the tough times and he is a great leader. He is a quality player that has no place playing for the Bulls. He is all class, and the Mavericks need players like him. Quote:

| The Raef trade is the only thing I'd want to see. I think that would help the team a lot. |

| Kidd is a better player than Nash, but Nash fits the team better. I don't like that trade.
The others are... interesting. |

| well i had heard of all of em but the last one and that frankly is retarted. finley is tha man. the one about raef is good in my opinion. he hasnt lived up to his expectations in my eyes. antonio davis and chris bosh are two big guys and could provide the inside presence we need. or if we really wanna we could take chris kaaman a lil early in the draft. hes a big dude and hes only gonna be picked a few spots lower. and the first one if there was someway we could get van exel there instead of nash.......maybe by throwin in abdul wahad or girffin or somethin in there w/ eschmayer, then we would be doin good. i know van exel was killer off the bench, but what would you rather see more? nash n van exel, or nash n kidd? |

Van Exel just wouldn't get the playing time, I don't think. It would mess up the whole dynamic present with Nash and Nick. |

| I've said it once and I'll say it again: Jason Kidd = overrated. Plus he's not getting any younger... The Mavs would be fools to trade Nash for Kidd. |

| While I agree that trading Nash would be horrible, Kidd would be a good addition, I believe. He went to New Jersey and single handedly turned them around, and took them to the Finals his first two years there. Kidd is good, but I'd rather see him in L.A. with the mighty Lakers. Just imagine it....Kobe, Shaq, Kidd, and Karl Malone...wow.

| Just remember, if the Nets were in the West, they would struggle to make the playoffs.
Anyhow, Kidd is certainly not overrated. He's just not flashy. |

Fizer is one of their best offensive players, while Marshall is their 6th man. 2: Believe me, the Mavs, or anybody else for that matter, don't want E-Rob. He doesn't play smart basketball, and he's always injured. 3: the Bulls don't want Michael Finley either.

| well i agreed with you up until number three. The Bulls would love to have Finley, since he grew up in Chicago and would bring them a playoff run, just not at the price that they'd have to give up for him. I'd rather have Fin the Fizer as he is right now, and Marshall is ok, but not great.
My fav. trade is the Lafrentz one, there's really nothing bad that could come out of it because he's been such a dissapointment.

| well honestly even though nash is a top 3 pg in the nba in my opinion, jason kidd is the number one in the pros. i mean the guy is pullin triple doubles out of his sleeve like somethin unreal. hes one of the best passers ever. nash n kidd could play terrific bball for the mavs in my opinion. it could be like sam cassel and gary payton. they put aside their wanting of playing time in order to make the team better. plus you get jason kidd to come in, then people think that this team could really win, which opens the door for veteran big men like malone or zo, who are running out of chances to win, to accpet the 5 mil we have to offer. personally it would make us really good in my opinion. but the lafrentz trade would be the best in my opinion as well |
