Praise Band Worship

Hello. I live in Europe and play the bass in this praise band that we have for our youth group in my church. Since we live in Europe, we don't get all the up-to-date praise and worship songs, except every summer at our summer camp when a state-side band comes and sings new songs. I am sort of the leader of the praise band and was wondering what praise songs any of you like, and/ or would like to suggest to me. Thanx. Livin' for Christ....

Hallo! wie gehts? ich habe ein Idee fur dich.
ok enough german, i'm bad at it.

I highly recomend the "how to songbook" from worshiptogether.com
as seen here

my youth group has it, and it is really nice because
1) it has acurate sheet music, with full piano arrangements and everything
2) it has guitar chord sheets
3) it has an explantion of, and chord charts for, guitar with a short cut capo
4) a cd with 1 minute selections of all the songs. as far as i have listened, the selections have all the musical parts of the song, so you can hear how the melody goes, and an acoustic guitar part for it. its really nice to help learn songs.

so basically, its the best songbook i've seen to date. and it has alot of new music.

another thing to check out is 100 portraits and waterdeep.
they did a worship CD that is very very good, and much of it is easily done by a solo acoustic guitar and vocals, which is nice for a youth group, because most of us don't have perfect instrumentation.
oh yeah, and if you buy the cd(i think its called "enter the worship circle") there is music on the waterdeep webpage for all the songs on that Cd, so you wouldn't have to buy a songbook.

check out those two things, and you'd be quite caught up on worship music.
ask me if ya got questions for i'm unclear
in Christ,
David

I don't know if your group has already done these traditional favorites before, but here they are...

1. Trading My Sorrows (Darrell Evans)
2. Everyday (Hillsongs)
3. The Valley Song (Jars of Clay)
4. I've Always Loved You (Third Day)
5. You Are So Good to Me (Third Day)
6. Forever (written by Chris Tomlin, but Michael W. Smith does an AWESOME version--if you can find it--try the Kazaa Media Desktop)
7. Enough (Chris Tomlin)
8. Unchanging (Chris Tomlin)
9. All I Can Say (David Crowder Band)
10. Rain Down (David Crowder Band)
11. Hungry-Falling On My Knees (David Crowder Band)

Hope these suggestions were helpful... Good luck!

well, i wouldn't call most of those traditional....but they are very very good worship songs. traditional in my book is hymns, or really old praise songs.

which brings me to another suggestion. go through an old hymnal and find all the hymns that you like, and arrange them for your band. it can be really fun to play, and the lyrics are so powerful on most hymns, so they're great songs of worship.

If you want to go traditional, look at the new arrangements of

1.) Come thou fount (David Crowder Band)
2.) Be Thou My Vision (Jars of Clay does a kick-booty version)
3.) Oh Lord, You're Beautiful (Look really hard for a version by Jonathan and Lisa Moore. It's very rare, but if you can find it, it's sooo worth it. Check out jonathanandlisa.com and maybe their chord section'll be up.
4.) What a Friend We Have (new arrangement by Lincoln Brewster...all I can say is WOW.
5.) Amazing Grace: Timeless Classic Good in any version.

If new stuff is more your bag:

1.) Here I Am to Worship (I would suggest the Australian version since you're European, but Chris Tomlin is always a good bet.)
2.) Be Near (Shane Barnard and Shane Evrette...dang: good stuff.)
3.) Hungry (On My Knees)-- DO NOT GET THE DAVID CROWDER VERSION. I love Crowder, but he sounds like a chipmunk on that version, I would suggest getting Joy Williams or the Revolution Praise Band's version.
4.) Sweep Me Away (Charlie Hall says it all. Get the "unfunkified version, though.")
5.) Open the Eyes of My Heart (Sonicflood does awesome as always)
6.) Draw Me Close (The Katinas have the best version I've heard)
7.) Let Everything That (Matt Redman does a jam-up job)
8.) The Happy Song (What can I say? Delerious, Delerious, Delerious!)
9.) Our Love is Loud (David Crowder's best worship song in my POV)
10.) I Can Only Imagine (MercyMe. If you don't get a lot of new stuff over there, maybe this won't be as old to you as it is to me. Still, though, it's a great song.)
