Question Training and styles

Is vocal training for different styles of music different? (is training to sing choral selections different from vocal training to sing jars of clay, etc. etc.)

if you want to learn to sing like jars, learn to sing classical music. their style, in my opinion, is very musical, and sung "correctly"
thats one of the big reasons i like their music.
i think one thing you will find is, people who sing punk, emo, or rock music (stuff like that) have little or no vocal training. thats why they do things that are, according to any vocal major, wrong.

so if you want to sing like a rock star, just um...don't get vocal lessons.

my $.10

ska is a very cool form of jazz singing. i like it alot.
sing all you can with any trained vocalist, be it in choir class, taking lessons, or some ensemble. i guarantee it will make you better for everything else.

People told me I have a perfect voice for bossanova, but I want to sing a mix of hard rock with melodic stuff, kinda sad,
