"take me away" for worship

so do you think doing Lifehouse's "Take me Away" would be good for worship?

I think it's okay to do it. I think what really matters is the words. Will those words lead people to worship God? In this case I think they do. Anyone else agree?

Um, this is a pretty vague song. Very vague. It doesn't say much at all about the object of worship, and while you can most certainly say that "We are singing this to God," I think that is a bad idea. When you are singing a song about God, the fact that you can't tell that it is a song of worship to God is usually a pretty big warning sign.

What attributes of God does this song positively proclaim? Really, what does this song say about God? I think this is an extremely important question.

I think worship songs are to be a prayer to God. If not then they are meaningless words thrown out of our mouths. Yes worship songs are meant to acknoledge attributes about God, but I believe another assortment-to say- of worship songs involve prayerful worship songs. and this song DEFINATELY involves prayer to God. If you think otherwise I suggest you either listen to some lifehouse or even better go to a concert of theirs because i have and it definately was a worship experience. you'd never think you could worship God so passionately in the middle of a bunch of beer drinking nonChristians. kind of odd. but nonetheless, this is a great worship song. look at the words and decide for yourself if this will help your group worship God.

Matt

ps ill be out of town for the next few days but id like to hear what you all have to say. be back friday

Yes. Although there is an option to actually "physically remove" posts, and had Brent done that you (or anybody else, for that matter) would be unable to see or click anything. Obviously, Brent didn't use this option.

In His love,
Nate

This song is actually very worshipful and if you read on the lifehouse official website Jason Wade the writer talks about how this is a form of crying out to God in desperate times... That in itself is nothing more than the purest of worship. In fact it reminds me very much of the woman who through herself at Jesus' feet and broke the jar of expensive perfume. It was a cry of commitment, desperation, and passion. That is what this song is about. Read the lyrics again and you'll see, Just 'cause it doesn't say Jesus on the box, doesn't mean it isn't Jesus in the box... There are many worship songs that don't say "Jesus" in it.

I have never done this song in Worship at church although I would much like to, however It's not really a song that falls under the CCLI liscence so there might be a bit of a legal issue with posting the words on a PowerPoint slide show, however I have performed the song at a Wedding, and it went fairly well.

Great song, and don't be mistaken on the writings of Lifehouse, despite what most people think their songs really arn't about girls.
