Korgs vs. ()

Are Korg Tritons all they're cracked up to be? I mean, I played on one the other day and it was great and all (even though it was a 5 octave), and it seems to have all the features a keyboardist could ever want. But is it truely the best? Are there other keyboards out there that can do relatively the same thing?

Personally I prefer Roland keyboards...just a personal preference.

If you have the money you may want to look at a nice Yamaha Clavinova...with some of the nicer ones you can do ANYTHING you Korg can do plus more!!!

Peace.

No, it is not truely the best.... just like any other instrument, there is no absolute "best". And yes, there are other keyboards out there that can do the same things... look at the Roland Fantom, the Roland XP-80, the Yamaha MOTIF, and the Kurzweil K2600 for starters.

Exactly which features are you looking for? The Triton does all sorts of things, but you probably don't need to do all of them... there's no sense in paying for features that you don't need.

In His love,
Nate

Well I'm looking for a keyboard that'll last me through college, and beyond (which might not be possible, but that's what I'm hoping for). Unfortunately KeysFreak, out of the other four keyboards you mentioned, I've never gotten my hands on them before, I've only played on a Triton (it was suppose to belong to Kevin Singleton, whoever he might be).

I'm hoping to implement whatever keyboard I get as my centerpiece of a low-key home studio, to take on the road, and maybe play in church. I don't know if Tritons have features like coffee warmers on there or something that or other very extraneous features. What would be your personal preference, and what types of places would you (or do you) play at?

Of course at the rate I'm saving money, I'll be in the market for a Triton in about two years.

I tried all of the keyboards out there, but the Triton is definatly not a do all keyboard. If you want to do any kind of realistic sounds its definatly not it, and I'd suggest going with the Motif or Fantom if you want that. I didn't need the sequencing stuff or anything like that, so I decided to go with a controller/rack system. I got a 88 key weighted controller, E-mu command station, a MicroKORG Synth/Vododer, and a mixer all for $1500 the same price of a Karma or a 76 key Triton LE.

Here's my opinion...... I've got a Triton full size. Its got great feel and everything and the piano sounds are nice enough. The sounds in it are amazing.

The thing about keyboards is that they have different uses. Nomatter how you try to get around it, the triton is a studio synth. It can do absolutely incredible things that I haven't even figured out yet But it all depends on what you're looking to do.
The fantom and the Motif are often prefered over the triton for stage use where as the triton gets a whole lot more preference in the studio and seemingly with black gospel style music for live performances because its got some great organs and a really nice wurly sound.

Anyway, I like pianos. If you want a great piano playing keyboard I would suggest the Yamaha P250. It is awesome, its got an amazing grand piano sound to it and it has speakers on the side that cause an amazing vibration and resonance that makes you feel like you're playing a real piano. Then just buy some module to go with it from roland and get all the neat pads and sounds you want for afew hundred bucks more and that should last you for a long time.
