| I... I am a person.
Ah, yes! Suprise!
But that’s not all!
I’m a girl.
If this makes you uncomfy, you are free to leave. No hard feelings.
I am (you are… we are…) Australian.
Ironically enough, I also talk like one.
I hate all forms of cricket, cept for backyard and beach cricket.
I love my share of football.
I love God.
Need I say more?
Okay.
He is my all.
Everything.
I don’t require, nor need, anything more.
Zippo. (That’s my form of the word – ‘Selah’*.)
I live, only cos He did.
I love, only cos He did.
(*‘Selah’ meaning – put that in yer pipe and smoke it.)
I go to Bible College in South Australia.
This is extra fun… Lots of stuff to learn, people to get along with, head standing competitions to be had.
I don’t have a paying job, but I volunteer at a couple of Christian offices around the city, which is extra fun.
I will turn 18 one of these days.
I want to …
Share the love of God with everyone
Go overseas again
Get married one day (when I find someone crazy enough and who passes my brothers judgement panel)
Move out of this state/country
Tape my funeral
I have…
Been mooshed on by cows
Been to Cambodia (and Singapore on the way)
Had friends die
Been all the way through school
Seen miracles
Been run over by my brother on the motor bike
Gone to tonnes of weddings
Moved out of home to a whole new city
Driven illegally
Burped at the table
Peed in the bath
Helped a cow have a baby cow
Laughed
Cried
Slepped
Showered (this morning actually… first time in ages)
Seen the snow
Won lots of races
~~~~~~~~
That is all I’m going to say about me right now. I don’t want to sound too self-centred… or spoil any of the suprises, which may arise (no promises but) in this bloggedy-shmog-shmog
| Family... I come from a long line of … leavers… Actually, they’re farmers. Blahaha! (You say it: bla-ha-ha… that’s three syllables.)
I have a dad and I have a mum. They are fantastic people cos they had a kid like me.
I have a brother. Reuben. He is married to my best mate, Renee. They got married 2 years ago in pretty traditional wedding clothes. Currently residing at the Sea of Galilee, Israel. (Lucky ducks.)
Another brother. Edwin. He works… for God. He rides… his bike. He fixes… roofs.
Me here. Is… crazy. Loves… starburst. Eats… icecream all the time.
Another brother. Gilbert. He is… a school kid… doing a mechanics apprenticeship. He’s really tall.
Another brother. (The mind reels, doesn’t it?) Ewan. He is… a school kid too. He loves… me. He is most like… a fox. (He can be there for one second and you look again – he’s gone.)
Ever seen the hit Australian comedy, ‘The Castle’? We’re like the Kerrigan family. Insanely fun, outrageously loving, crazily different. And proud of it.
| Karea (I hope that's how you spell your name - my apologies if it's not.)
Thanks for being my first blog poster! You are my hero! (But I wont expect you to wear your jocks on the outside.)
Are you going on team again this year? I was reading about the trips this morning going, "God, please send me somewhere!" I would love to go... to anywhere!
I think we should organise a huge Teen Missions thing for Sonfest next year. Like... wear a TM t-shirt all the time. I'd love to just catch up with anyone from team. Hmm... I'll work on that.
Hope your autumn in Queensland is treating you well. Love to you my Australian/TM friend!
| Today. Wednesday 14th May 2003. This morning everyone deserted the house at about 6:45am.
(Just so you know... I don't live with my family cos I had to move here for college. I live with David (one of 4 sons) and his parents, Glenda an Kingsley. Glenda is my mum's cousin.)
So... everyone left and I got up and had no idea what was going on. I thought someone must have died. I didn't really think much about it at all. I read my bible and went and had a shower... The normal morning things.
Then I wrote a letter and played the piano waiting for the time to come when I would trundle up the hill to the bus stop. I left about a minute late and thought... "4 minutes - ample time".
Big fat no to that. I was walking past a neighbours house (I have no idea who they are) and said 'hi' to a lady standing there. Then my bus went past the end of my road.
Bollucks.
I wasn't heaps upset. I would have just gone home and played the piano more till I had to leave for the next bus. The lady out the front of my neighbours house and the lady who was my neighbour kindly took me to the train station! It was cool!
At the train station one of my church friends' mum was there too. We had an exciting talk about hormonal cream and Harris Scarfes (where she works). Then this business guy got on and if I didn't know better, he was trying to chat up my friends mum and he didn't even talk to me. I think that's a bit rude... considering my friends mum is MARRIED!
I got on at Blackwood (which is near where I live). I got off at Goodwood. That's my stop, so it's good that I got off. I go to Tabor Bible College and its about a 15 minute walk from Goody station. Sometimes, in peak hour traffic, it takes me 20 minutes to cross Goodwood Road! Crazyness.
Wanna hear a funny story:
Yesterday I was in a lecture called Creative Living. Heaps of people do it, so I'm just another face in the crowd. Nearing the end of lectures, I always get all this weird energy and start having some stupid fun.
David McGregor (the lecturer) said that this one guy sat on a pole for 68 years to be 'more spiritual' or something.
I lean over to Kez and go, "Are you from Syria?" (which is another way of saying "are you serious", incase you didn't know).
And then David McGrego goes, "And this guy was from Syria."
Mate. I lost it.
Well... life is exciting, I have to tell you that. Tomorrow I have a full day at school ... 9:30 till 6pm. Spewk. It makes it so long. I have to buy vanilla coke on Thursdays to get me though the afternoon.
I now have to do something about a Creative Living assignment that is due... oh... tomorrow. Hmm.
Peas, Beanie
| Hey. So I decided to stop by your Blog after you posted in mine... pretty interesting I must say. I think it is awesome that you are from Australia! I love the way they talk... yeah... I am just a plain American... I have a question... Do Australians think Americans talk weird? I have always wondered how we sound to people who have different English accents...
Alright... I'm leaving now. |
| hey bonnie,
how's it going, i'm not going on a tm mission trip this yearm not yet any, i'll have to wait and see what God has planned for me.
A tm thing at Sonfest would be hard cause teams are happening then, there was sort a one at a.g.m.f. year before last when i went and that was cool.
I think that the png team looks good, and the drama one too, but i think like a leader now and that would greatly effect my choice of which one i would go on.
well that's it for now
bye
-keara (nearly go it right)
Alright... I'm leaving now. | Oh... shanksh for dwopping in!  It's pretty exciting to have visitors. I didn't know having a blog would be so much fun! I would have started ages ago... plah!
It's not that you talk weird, just different. With the younger generation of girls coming through, I've noticed that they love to mimick the American accent. Some words we pronounce differently (but that's also the case here, pronunciation depends on what state in Australia you were born in).
Some of the things you have, we call different names. Like "ottomans" to you are "footstools" to us. We don't have "settee's", just couches and lounges.
Oh... something that you call... er, what was it... oh! dagnamit... I just forgotted. They are like sheep-skin boots with the wool on the inside and they keep your feet extra snuggly. You call them something... which I can't remember and we call them 'ugg boots'. I have some grey ones which I decorated with yellow towel and denim jeans. |
| Oh Matt - you are a silly duffer!
Just cos I've got a blog (which when you say it sounds like 'bog' ... like in the dunny... don't you think?) doesn't mean that I will stop writing to ya!
Thanks for the song. What are the chords? |
