Here's some DC Talk news, about a week ago, the solo members of DC Talk shared the same stage for the first time in 3 years and after they were done, the crowd chanted "Jesus Freak" and all three members came out and played "In the Light" and "Jesus Freak" for more info go to http://jesusfreakhideout.com/news/default.asp

Okay, seriously. dc talk hasn't released a new album since nineteen freaking ninety-eight. Since it is now 2006, that means they haven't made a new album together in nearly eight years. The next person to say "dc talk needs to make a new album" will be shot by an angry mob of people.

At the same time, I'm secretly holding out hope for another album like Supernatural (which had some solid pop songs on it, and weren't like "Jesus Freak"). But the gods have frowned on that idea.

No doubt. Those guys getting back together after so long would be absurd.

I'd have to say he does have a pretty average black guy voice. He's an excellent writer, though. I'd still have to say Toby Mac was the best writer of the group, although he seems a little full of himself. If anyone wants to contradict that statement, please bear in mind the fact that he wrote a song in which the chorus repeated "Toby Mac" over and over. Kevin Max has a great voice.

Personal preference and quantity. I like his lyrics better than that of the other members. Tait's lyrics are cliche, and Max's are pretty good, just confusing. I know the lyrics to all his songs from Steriotype Be, but I only understand the point he's trying to get across in a couple of the songs. On to the aspect of quantity. Mac has had more solo albums than the other two, I believe, and he wrote all of one album and did the majority of the writing on the rest for DC Talk. Mac has a terrible singing voice, though, which is why he needed the other two for most of the singing. He's a pretty good rapper and when he strains and yells it sounds better than most.

Funny, I was going to start a thread about this but then I realized there already was one...
Just this past Saturday Newsong was scheduled to play a show in my town at the spring fair, but it got cancelled due to bad weather. I walked around the side of the stage and noticed Newsong's drummer packing up their stuff. Anyways, he saw me standing there and came over and talked to me...
I asked him about mid-conversation about the status of DC talk, and if they were going to get back together anytime soon...(He said he was friends with Tait's drummer, and Tait and Tobymac toured with Newsong on the Winterjam tour last year, so I figured he may know some stuff) He told me that on that winterjam tour there had been a good bit of talk about them getting back together, and that they actually recorded some new DC talk demos. But after the tour, they went their seperate ways.
Another interesting thing that he told me was that Tait was wanting to do an album under a secular label, which explains why Tait is no longer listed on the Forefront website...
The way he made it sound was that DC talk would unfortunately not be getting back together anytime soon.

That would be really interesting to see. Forefront sucks.

Well not really, but like I said: it will be an interesting experience. Who knows what'll happen...will the rabid dogs of secular music eat him alive? (COMPLETELY kidding here).

He meant that they would still be a christian band, but just have a non-christian record label. It would expose their music to a wider audience.
