| "Everyman" My fellow thespians--
Anyone know anything about liturgical drama?
I was told recently that our fall production for next year will be "Everyman". If you haven't read it, it's great. It was written back in the early days of Christianity (well, relatively early...like the 10th century maybe) to model Christlike behavior to people who couldn't understand Latin. It was performed in their vernacular which was a big deal back in the day for Christians because if you didn't understand Latin, you couldn't read the Bible. It's about this guy, Everyman, who finds out that he has a short time to live, so he spends time trying to build up his good deeds, all the while realizing that his sin and pleasure have abandoned him, so that he can make it to Heaven.
Anyway, I think it's really exciting for my school because we're so danged politically correct all the time. So has anyone else heard about this play? What do you think about the Christian themes reflected?
